This is not how American military forces act. Why are our political leaders trying to join us at the hip with our junior partner Israel?

Why do we fund and arm Israel. They are completely out of control.

Well said.
If Israel insists on destroying civilian targets in Lebanon, let them buy and build their own weapons. American taxpayers should not be funding this.

AIPAC has become such a political liability that it’s shifting to a more “nimble” (read: secretive) approach to buying politicians for Israel Instead of high profile endorsements and PAC donations, it will quietly mobilize individual donors for direct contributions

Rep. Thomas Massie is on the verge of securing a massive win for independent farmers. “We’ve been working on this so long… ” Bookmark this. This could deliver a blow to the big four meatpackers’ monopolistic control of the beef industry. How? The PRIME Act would give states more control over regulations for small, local meat processors. “It says that if the farmer and the processor and the consumer are all in the same state, that they can be regulated differently than having [these] giant USDA regulations that are meant to regulate the Oscar Mayer wiener factory.” “Let the state or even the county health inspector regulate these small abattoirs.” “Some of these small processors process less meat than a steakhouse in Washington, D.C. does on K Street at night.” A pilot version of the PRIME Act was included in the House-passed Farm Bill. Now, it’s up to the Senate to decide if it will make it into the final version of the bill. @RepThomasMassie @chelliepingree

Concerned residents packed the Utah County Planning Commission meeting on Tuesday after it unanimously approved a widely unpopular data center ordinance without allowing public comment. Police quickly moved on concerned residents – including swarming one young woman, dragging her out of the room, and slamming her onto the ground. The woman was left with a concussion and a bruised and swollen jaw. She spent the night in the ER after being released from jail. An emergency rally was called for Wednesday in response to the brutality. Community members are demanding the termination, arrest, and prosecution of the offending officer – identified as Phil Crawford.

Israel is out of control.
I’ve been detained by the IDF, along with a group of rabbis & volunteers. We were simply harvesting olives in a grove near Nehalim in the West Bank. The occupation is a crime under international law. Harvesting olives isn’t a crime under any law I know.

By now it should be clear to our decision makers: we will not be able to end this war until we meaningfully restrain Israel. The Israelis have thwarted—& will continue to thwart—any deal we attempt to reach with Tehran. Israel drove us into this war because we let them. The fundamental issue is this administration’s inability to stop our junior partner from acting like our senior partner. It’s long past time for our leaders to do just that—lead by restraining the Israelis & end this war now.
Netanyahu on Iran: Mojtaba decided to follow in his father's footsteps. He pulled the trigger, and Iran is once again trying to develop its bombs of death. Therefore, there is only one way to remove this threat once and for all: to overthrow the regime in Iran. And that is my directive to the IDF, Mossad and the security services.

Remember the settler who ran over a Palestinian by the side of the road? Kind of hard to forget. He was never charged with a crime and had now been arrested for his involvement in the brutal attack on Washing Post photojournalist Heidi Levine.

Israel shuts down a children's concert.
What began as a children’s concert in the Palestinian village of Umm al-Kheir ended in confrontation. Shortly after the Sotna music project’s ceremony began, Israeli soldiers declared the area a closed military zone and ordered residents to leave. As the crowd dispersed, a settler drove toward Palestinians, including children, and assaulted a resident. | Tal Elkayam instagram.com/haaretzcom/

Israel is out of control. Israeli media report how scared the Israeli Defense Forces are of local Israeli settlers. Gruesome awareness of complicity in war crimes, ethnic cleansing and genocide.
A new report in Haaretz brings new sources and quotes on how and why the settlers wield so much power over the IDF. Commanders in the West Bank have completely given up control over the situation ot the settlers: 1)Commanders are afraid to confront settler leaders or to act against soldiers and civilians who attack Palestinians. They fear attacks from right-wing ministers and MKs, and they fear Defense Minister Israel Katz will interfere in their promotions. Sources say that fear reaches field-level ranks. 2) Settlement council heads have direct, ongoing contact with brigade and division commanders, and sometimes with political leaders. Sources say these ties have gone beyond security coordination and become a center of power that shapes the army's priorities. 3) The IDF has the forces to reach incidents quickly. Sources say the issue is often not how long it takes to arrive, but whether commanders see violence against Palestinians as something that needs immediate intervention. 4) In March, soldiers from the Haredi reservist Battalion 941 attacked a CNN crew. Bluth suspended the battalion from operations, but its commanders were not removed. That same night the brigade commander visited the soldiers, encouraged them and prayed with them. Sources say this was partly a signal to politicians and settler leaders that commanders stand with the troops. 5) When soldiers or reservists are involved in shootings, the IDF and police often argue over who should investigate. Neither wants to be the one to arrest a soldier who could end up convicted and imprisoned. "Every commander and senior officer knows that arresting a soldier on suspicion of killing a Palestinian could, within hours, become the next Elor Azaria affair," a security source said. 6) Commanders tell senior officers they are afraid to use force against settlers. More and more soldiers report being physically attacked and threatened at friction points. The IDF has completely given up control over West Bank policy. Settlers are the real bosses there.

It is reassuring to see the US justice system deflecting political attempts to penalise US civil society for supporting the ICC investigation and human rights work. Pursuing justice is not a crime.
In a landmark victory for free speech and justice, the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York today granted a preliminary injunction blocking the Trump administration from enforcing its sanctions regarding the International Criminal Court (ICC) against DAWN and Taxpayers Alliance Against Genocide (TAAG), the two organizations said today. dawnmena.org/u-s-court-block…
