Stop Liberal Immigration Policies While Mark Carney has claimed he has taken back control of immigration, he has no plan to clear hundreds of thousands of asylum claims and no plan to remove millions of non-citizens who have no legal reason to be in Canada, including illegal migrants and foreign students whose visas have expired. Mark Carney is out of touch: Liberals must stop catering to lobby groups who press for mass immigration that depresses wages and increases housing costs. Destructive Liberal mass immigration policies have: Created a youth jobs crisis Caused emergency rooms to overflow Placed massive strain on social welfare programs and provincial education systems Skyrocketed rent Broken Canada’s consensus on immigration Worse, it’s becoming evident with inconsistencies in Statistics Canada data that Mark Carney’s Liberal government can’t even accurately track how many non-citizens are in the country or if they’ve left. The Liberals have issued 112,000 new Temporary Foreign Work permits and 174,000 foreign student work permits between January and July of 2026; a city roughly the size of Saskatoon added to the Canadian population in the first six months of this year alone. Conservatives oppose any efforts by Prime Minister Carney and his Liberal government to increase immigration. We will continue to fight for major decreases of immigration levels and expect immigration levels to be set much lower in the upcoming immigration levels report. Conservatives will continue to press the government to remove non-citizens with no legal reason to be here, massively reduce immigration levels, end the abuse of Canada’s social welfare programs by bogus asylum claimants, and vigorously oppose the Liberal’s mass immigration policies. Three years ago today, the world witnessed the deadliest attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust. Families were torn apart, children kidnapped, women assaulted, and the elderly slaughtered: some 809 civilians were killed, while 252 would endure captivity as hostages. In January, the last body of the hostages killed was finally returned following the return of the last living hostage last year. The return offered some closure to the conflict as the last body was laid to rest, but we know the scourge of antisemitism is not over. The hatred that fueled October 7th did not remain on foreign shores. Right here in Canada, far too many synagogues, Jewish businesses and institutions have been the targets of harassment and hate. This is not, and cannot become, normal. Conservatives will always fight against antisemitism and all forms of hatred: protecting our schools, communities and places of worship so that Canadians of all faiths can live in peace and security. Today, alongside our Jewish friends and neighbours, we remember those who lost their lives that day. May their memory be a blessing.

Canada is the world's fourth-largest oil supplier, but when the Strait of Hormuz closed, we had no barrels in storage to release. Canada needs a strategic oil reserve so that in the next crisis, Canadians are protected first. As the price of oil skyrockets globally, Canadians are looking for action that will deliver affordability. Unfortunately, Canada is the only G7 country without an oil stockpile to release from, and Mark Carney has explicitly rejected Conservative calls for a Strategic Energy and Minerals Reserve. Earlier this year, the Liberals promised 23.6 million additional barrels of oil, but where is it? Canada produced 5 million fewer barrels just one month after Tim Hodgson’s announcement. Now, the G7 has committed to releasing another 100 million barrels over four months, starting immediately, and a diesel release within 20 days. What is Canada's share, and where will it come from? Canada should be the solution, helping stabilize global markets, support our allies, and grow our economy. Instead, under the Carney Liberals, Canada was left on the sidelines during a global energy crisis. Conservatives will get the government out of the way and repeal the anti-development laws, scrap the industrial carbon tax, and get projects approved within six months to get shovels in the ground and get our resources to market. National Post - Feds admit they haven't enacted any policies toward advancing promise to release 23.6 million barrels of oil.

Today, the Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition and the Conservative Party of Canada, released the following statement on the Liberals' planned announcement, calling on Carney to deliver real relief for Canadians: β€œToday, Conservatives won another battle for Canadian families. β€œOnly after months of Conservative pressure, Liberal Finance Minister FranΓ§ois-Philippe Champagne is announcing a delay of the government’s proposed gas tax hike until early next year. β€œIt pays to have Conservatives fighting for Canadian families. β€œAny relief for working people is good news, but a modest extension of the Liberals’ current plan will not be enough for Canadians already squeezed by higher costs. β€œAfter a decade of crushing Liberal policies and taxes, Canadians are paying for it with massive food inflation, the worst household debt in the G7, and personal insolvencies are at their worst since the Great Global Recession. β€œThat is why Conservatives continue to call for the government to remove all federal taxes on gas and diesel until at least Canada Day, 2027 to save Canadians up to 25 cents per litre. β€œThat includes the 7 cents per litre Clean Fuel Regulations, the GST and a permanent cancellation of the Industrial Carbon Tax so Canadians aren’t forced to pay more for food and fuel. β€œCanadians need real relief that brings lower prices, not another Liberal half measure. Conservatives are proud of our role in securing today’s win, but we will never stop fighting for a more affordable Canada.

After more than a decade of Liberal economic mismanagement, Canada is falling behind, investment is leaving, and workers and families are paying the price. More than a decade of Liberal economics has consequences, with Canada falling further behind the United States in living standards, incomes, and investment. A new study from the Fraser Institute states that Canada began to β€œtruly squander this opportunity post-2014. Prior to 2014, Canada largely kept pace with, or in some cases exceeded the US, across multiple measures.” The study also puts Liberal inflated bureaucracy into perspective: as the US grew its private sector share of employment, Canada went backwards as government employment outgrew the private sector. This failed economy is not just hurting Canadian consumers: it is driving away investment, weakening business confidence, and pushing companies to look south of the border instead of investing in Canada. The consequences of these Liberal failures are staggering: According to TELUS’ Mental Health Index, cost-of-living is the top financial stressor for 63% of workers. Canadian consumers have changed their shopping habits at the grocery store because of Liberal food inflation. According to a new Vanguard study, among financially stressed Canadian parents β€œ68% say they feel pressure to hide their financial worries from their kids and 36% avoid talking about money at home altogether.” The children of financially stressed parents are also 5x more likely to feel anxious about money than their peers. Unfortunately for Canadians, under Mark Carney it’s more of the same Liberal economic incompetence: He promised the fastest growing economy in the G7, but Canada’s economy is projected to grow four times slower than the global average this year. He delivered the worst first year economic growth of any Prime Minister on record, and ranked 37 out of 38 OECD economies. Despite Canada having some of the best talent in the world, a stagnant economy and Liberal red tape blocking investment are driving what should be prized Canadian companies to sell to foreign buyers or leave Canada altogether. Conservatives will fight for measures that will improve the lives of Canadians. Stronger paycheques, lower costs, homes they can afford, and an economy that rewards hard work.

Recently @HaltonPolice shared the results of months of work with not one, but two major crime projects, one involving drugs and gun smuggling, the other a human trafficking ring. In both, Burlington residents were arrested and search warrants executed at Burlington locations. These disturbing crime announcements have us all wondering why we are seeing this level of crime in a city where residents were once comfortable leaving their doors unlocked and believed our most vulnerable were safe. Neighbourhoods in South Burlington have resorted to having their streets protected by security patrols! The Burlington Conservative Association, is hosting a community Public Safety Town Hall, August 15th, at 10 am at the Central Library in the Centennial Hall. If you are concerned about crime in our city, please attend and invite your neighbours, friends and family. Join Emily Brown and the Burlington Conservative Association as MP Arpan Khanna and MP Larry Brock. This is your opportunity to hear directly from our MPs, ask questions, share your concerns, and be part of the conversation on building safer communities. Saturday, August 15, 2026 10:30 AM (Doors open at 10:00 AM) Burlington Central Library, Centennial Hall RSVP: [conservative.ca/stop-the-cri…](conservative.ca/stop-the-cri…) We look forward to seeing you there.

A man convicted of torture and facing gun-smuggling charges was set free, thanks to Liberal justice. Within a year, he is accused of opening fire on a crowd in Toronto and running people down in a stolen vehicle. This madness needs to end.
