This stated assumption contradicts the findings of the Health Select Committee Report, all the reports of the Public Inquiry and jeopardizes all our lives if another coronavirus pandemic arrives. Our chief medical officer should be removed.

That was the reason why we had FIVE times the death rate of East Asian states, prolonged national lockdowns and care homes devastated. They suppressed their epidemics and stopped the spread within 4-6 weeks using strong public health measures of find, test, trace, isolate and support. bmj.com/content/389/bmj-2024…

I cannot believe this. The 2024 NHS pandemic plan states the following generic assumptions: “it will not be possible to halt the spread of a new pandemic virus, and it would be a waste of public health resources and capacity to attempt to do so.” england.nhs.uk/long-read/fra…

In 1959, Eugene Ionesco wrote the absurdist play Rhinoceros in which one by one, an entire town of people suddenly transform into rhinos. At first, people are horrified but as the contagion spreads, (almost) everyone comes to accept that turning into a rhinoceros is fine. 1/

How many times has someone said to you, "really I should be wearing one of those too"? I had another one just now. Bronchiectasis caused by a covid infection, knows she's vulnerable, too embarrassed by the idea of masking. Peer pressure is a killer.

My question is whether @UKHSA have considered another possible contributing factor put forward by other scientists: 👉🏻 Could COVID infections have caused persistent changes in immune function, potentially making it easier for MenB to establish carriage or cause invasive disease?

A growing number of scientists have been sounding the alarm recently about how repeated Covid infections may be damaging our immune systems… bmj.com/content/390/bmj.r173…

With MILLIONS of vaccines stockpiled, why can’t we have sensible vaccination policies like France 🇫🇷 They too recommend the ‘at risk’ groups who should get vaccinated… …but ANYONE who wants a COVID booster can still get one annually, free of charge. sante.gouv.fr/soins-et-malad…

In this conversation, “somewhere quiet” means somewhere with cleaner air, so that it is accessible to someone without a functioning immune system. Healthcare settings, and all public buildings, should have clean air.

Dear @UKHSA, Just over a year ago, you told us you were launching a £1.3 MILLION wastewater monitoring programme to detect a wide range of dangerous pathogens… …but (as far as I can tell), we’ve not heard a peep about it since. Any chance of a little update, perhaps?
We've announced a £1.3m programme to evaluate how wastewater monitoring could help detect a wide range of dangerous pathogens including mpox, West Nile virus and Lassa fever. This work builds upon the UK's existing monitoring for polio 🔬 More details: gov.uk/government/news/ukhsa…

❓Between 2023-25, guess how many Covid vaccine doses were left unused in warehouses until they expired? 👉🏻 63 MILLION ❓Guess much that equates to in £’s lost? 👉🏻 £1.6 BILLION The govt has hugely restricted access to Covid vaccines since 2023 & then just quietly binned them!
COVID VACCINE: COST EFFECTIVENESS ASSESSMENT For the first time ever, the UK government used a ‘bespoke non-standard cost-effectiveness assessment’ to decide who would be eligible for the Covid booster this Autumn. In this 🧵, I explore how this assessment was undertaken…
