When you say Nigerians are poorer today, APC supporters respond that we were never truly rich. That we were just leeches living off government handouts.
And I’m confused. So the teacher or banker who could afford a car, pay school fees, feed their family and take care of their responsibilities on a single salary was a leech? What exactly was unproductive about that?
People had basic jobs, could afford basic necessities and had a reasonable standard of living. Now that those things have become increasingly difficult to afford, you’re rewriting history to make poverty sound like some kind of economic awakening.
The government has a responsibility to create an environment where people can work, earn a decent living and provide for their families. When that becomes increasingly impossible, you government has failed, so how do you blame ordinary Nigerians for being unproductive. You question the policies and leadership that have contributed to their declining purchasing power.
And what makes it even more frustrating is watching people struggle to survive while defending a political class whose displays of wealth seem completely disconnected from the economic realities of ordinary Nigerians; Prado and jet for the politicians, bread of sorrow for citizens.
What a shame.

Wow, where were all these calculations when they occupied Nigeria over N97 fuel in 2012 and swore the subsidy was a scam? “Jonathan’s cabinet is stealing all the money; we are a rich country with plenty the oil.” “16 years of pdp and we have not gotten anywhere APC!! change”
What changed?
The financing gap Nigeria needs to bridge:
Infrastructure - $100b a year for 30 years
Energy - $410b rising to $1.9t by 2060
MSME - $32b a year from now till 2060
Agriculture and climate adaptation - $336b over 10 years
But they are stealing from our $40b annual budget, that’s why we are not great 🤡
Jesus!
Replying to @buildwithdudu
When they were dragging Igbo soup better than Yoruba soup, you didn't come up with this
Y'all are just daft fools with clogged brains and hypocritical mind.

lol are you not African?
To be a celebrated African INTELLECTUAL, do you:
-develop a new scientific theory. Nope.
- invent groundbreaking technology. Nope.
- whine about colonialism with eloquent English. YES.
We have turned the African voice into a perpetual whine fest. This is why no one respects us around the world. Everyone else got occupied, colonised, invaded, pillaged. Often worse than what Africa went through, and even longer. Those countries have surpassed us, some even surpassing their former colonisers in GDP per capita. Still, all we do is whine.
Can we please stop?
