The male Valley Carpenter Bee (1st photo) looks extremely different from the female (2nd photo), with fluffy yellow fur and green eyes. They are both gorgeous in person but the males are particularly striking; I don't feel my photos truly captured it!

I couldn't *not* pet this teddy bear of a carpenter bee today. He really didn't seem to mind.
