Onchain must win, and that means AMMs must win first. The rest is a cold start problem: liquidity → collateral → composability → demand → deeper liquidity

Stay tuned…
Tokenized stocks went from ~$50M to ~$2.3B in a year. But every time I tried to actually use one, something felt off: very low liquidity, confusing trading hours, unclear where to make the trade... It felt wrapped, but not really integrated. So I did some research 🧵

Onchain liquidity isn't just about trading. It's the base of many DeFi use cases on top: lending, collateral, leverage. A liquidator that can't dump into a pool has to hold the asset and eat the price risk, lending protocols risk getting while the market is out of trading

The AUM chart only tells you how much got wrapped, not whether you can exit it, custody it or use it. Depth was one gate. We've been measuring the rest. More this week. 👀

Moving forward with or without clarity
If CLARITY stalls, the SEC and CFTC are already advancing Project Crypto — a joint regulatory effort aimed at delivering a meaningful portion of the market structure framework through rulemaking rather than statute. It’s not the same as legislation, but it’s real progress. I track one of the key pieces (Crypto Assets rulemaking on offers, sales, exemptions, and safe harbors) here: reginfo.gov/public/do/eAgend…

It’ll be interesting to watch @RobinhoodApp move here. We’ve seen crypto exchanges experiment with stocks, now we will see a stock broker experiment with crypto. I don’t think the outcome will necessarily mirror what we saw on @base or BSC.

deRWAs are now live on @base deRWAs are a framework by @centrifuge for issuing tokenized assets that are liquid, tradeable, and composable in DeFi natively The first deRWA is deSPXA, giving tokenized exposure to the S&P 500 fund 24/7 onchain which has never been possible before

Contrary to the current KOL thirst posts, the KelpDAO incident wasn’t a DeFi vulnerability. It was a bridge issue. We need fewer intermediaries, not more. All of the most recent exploits are multi-sig compromises. The code didn’t break, the humans with too much control did.
ah so this is why tradfi has all that slowness and those middlemen

After almost 6 years in blockchain infrastructure, working on Ethereum core dev, DeFi protocol architecture and smart contract systems, I'm channeling a big chunk of my 2026 into something completely different.

Sadly, Aave today represents the opposite principles of what DeFi aimed to solve. Zero transparency, very low profile smoke and mirrors, @StaniKulechov and @aave extracting as much as possible from token holders, zero diversity. DeFi will win (despite @StaniKulechov and @aave)

I agree with Marc. Only in crypto will you see a team ask for $50M+ without a detailed business plan or use of proceeds. This is amateur at best, extractive at worst. My recommendation: At least provide a detailed breakdown of projected expenses over the next 3 years.
