Stacks just dropped its Q3 Ecosystem Report, and it was a strong quarter for Bitcoin-native finance.
~735 BTC is now in Bitcoin Staking across the first two bonds. Bond 1 filled with 230 BTC from @21shares, @HashKeyCloud, @UTXOmgmt (Nakamoto), and @syphercapital. Bond 2 brought in another 505 BTC, with 483 BTC coming through @StackingDao’s stBTC, making that BTC liquid for use across Stacks apps.
Staked $STX grew by more than 25% since the PoX-5 unlock, from 392M to 493M. @ZestProtocol hit new highs with $122M in deposits and $42M borrowed, while weekly DEX volume reached a 12-month high of $16.7M, led by @bitflow.
More BTC is entering the ecosystem while lending and trading activity are growing too. I’m interested to see how much further these numbers can go in the next quarte 🟧

Tenero V2 is live and bringing Stacks DeFi together in one place
The team has spent the past few months rebuilding @tenero_io into a true all in one trading and analytics platform for Stacks. Here’s what’s new:
• 0% fee swaps powered by @ZestProtocol. Best rate routing across Bitflow, Velar, ALEX, Arkadiko, and StackingDAO, with smart multi hop and split execution. Swap from any token page or the dedicated tab.
• Google sign-in + instant $STX wallet via Privy. Self-custodial, optional 2FA but still would recommend adding
• DeFi Yield Hub — compare APYs, TVL, and exit terms across major Stacks protocols in one place. Filter by STX, BTC, or stables and drill into historical charts.
• Pools explorer — every major liquidity pool with filters, volume breakdowns, fee data, and customizable columns.
• Refreshed UI — live trades (no refresh needed), new treemap (including memes), trending tokens, hover stats, and side panels for watchlists and tracked wallets. Full portfolio PnL and smart money tracking included.
Stacks is back at the center of the homepage. The ecosystem is growing with BTC staking and capital markets progress, and they’re doubling down on supporting it.

Stacks is turning Bitcoin into productive capital
A large share of BTC remains idle. The opportunity is to give it more uses without forcing holders to sell it or move it away from Bitcoin. For institutions, that means predictable returns, the ability to use BTC as collateral, confidentiality, and security built to last.
At Token2049, Muneeb laid out how @Stacks plans to address these needs by 2030 through the Satoshi Upgrade roadmap. Three frontiers.
The first is Bitcoin capital markets.
Bitcoin Staking is already live, and demand is showing up. The Genesis Bond sold out at 230 BTC. Bond 2 has now filled its roughly 500 BTC capacity, with more than 6.7M STX bonded alongside it.
This second bond was filled through Bitcoin DeFi, including liquid staking via @StackingDao and the @xverse pool. BTC remains secured through a script on Bitcoin L1, with $STX bonded alongside it to support the staking mechanism, and the bond targets BTC-denominated rewards. The next step is expanding what holders can do with that capital, including self-custodial borrowing against bonded BTC without giving up control of their keys.
Think of it as bringing more of the repo market model to Bitcoin. PoX-6 is targeted for 2027 as part of that direction.
The second is Compliant privacy.
Blockchains expose transaction activity and can reveal positions and collateral levels. That creates a real challenge for institutions and holders moving large amounts of capital. The vision is privacy-preserving transactions with viewing keys that allow authorized auditors, regulators, or counterparties to access the information they need. Not unrestricted anonymity, but confidentiality that can work alongside compliance.
The third is post-quantum security.
Cryptographic standards are already moving toward post-quantum alternatives, and NIST has outlined a transition away from vulnerable signature schemes over the coming years. Larger post-quantum signatures could also put pressure on Bitcoin's effective block capacity.
As Bitcoin becomes a more important settlement layer, everyday financial activity needs infrastructure that can scale while retaining Bitcoin finality. Stacks has room to upgrade its own cryptography on its own schedule, making post-quantum readiness an important part of its long-term roadmap.
These three frontiers reinforce each other. Deeper capital markets create more demand for privacy. Institutional privacy needs security that can stand up to future cryptographic threats. And all of it depends on infrastructure that can support more activity. $STX is part of that system, supporting the Bitcoin Staking mechanism and powering activity across the Stacks network.
Most Bitcoin still has limited ways to earn, borrow, or participate in on-chain markets without being moved into other arrangements. opportunity like this change that while keeping Bitcoin at the center.
@Stacks is building toward a version of Bitcoin where it isn't just held, but put to work across capital markets, privacy-focused applications, and a more resilient financial infrastructure.
Making Bitcoin productive without losing sight of what makes Bitcoin valuable in the first place. $STX 🟧

Zero Authority has been one of the places I’ve consistently contributed to the Stacks ecosystem over the years.
I started with content and gradually took on different bounties, gigs and tasks across the platform. I’ve interacted with 45 bounties so far, built my on-chain reputation, and met a lot of good people along the way.
I’m still contributing too. New bounties come in every week, so there’s always something new to work on.
My writing has improved a lot through doing these tasks, and I’ve picked up new skills along the way too. Working on real briefs and actually shipping the work has helped me improve way more than just practicing on my own.
And I like that all of that work stays on my profile. You can look at it and see what I’ve actually contributed over time.
If you’re looking for somewhere to start contributing to Stacks, check out Zero Authority.

. @Stacks is moving into a different phase. 🟧
Bitcoin Staking is live, institutions are starting to plug in, and the focus is shifting toward getting more BTC capital onto the network.
@muneeb is stepping in as CEO of Stacks Labs, bringing the founder back into the operating role as Stacks enters a new phase. Alex Miller, who stepped in as interim CEO and helped get Bitcoin Staking shipped, is moving into an advisory role, the community will always be grateful for everything he has done.
Muneeb has been working on Bitcoin since 2013 and co-founded Stacks in 2017. At Korea Blockchain Week, he laid out where he sees the next frontier for Bitcoin on Stacks:
Capital markets. Put idle BTC to work without selling it or moving it away from Bitcoin.
Privacy. Give institutions and holders the privacy they need to move larger amounts of capital on chain.
Post-quantum. Prepare the network for the cryptographic challenges ahead.
And alongside all of that is the capacity roadmap, with up to 100x more capacity being targeted after the Satoshi Upgrade.
The first piece is already live: Bitcoin Staking. Bonding Period 2 is expected to open soon with higher capacity, while Stacks continues expanding its institutional reach.
The market reacted quickly too. Following the September 30 announcement, $STX rallied around 30% and appeared among the top 24-hour gainers on CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko
BIG news: @muneeb Ali, founder of Stacks, is taking over as CEO of Stacks Labs on October 15.
Bitcoin Staking is live, so Stacks Labs now enters its growth phase with the founder at the helm.

Big one for Stacks and Bitcoin
@Anchorage — a federally chartered crypto bank is enabling institutional Bitcoin staking with @Stacks
Institutions can enroll and fund a BTC Bond directly from their Anchorage account, earn weekly rewards in BTC, and reclaim principal at maturity.
The BTC stays on Bitcoin L1 the entire time. Not bridged. Not wrapped. Held in custody at a federally chartered bank.
productive Bitcoin without moving it away from Bitcoin L1 or changing how institutions custody their BTC.
A lot of BTC yield products have required some combination of wrapping, bridging, lending, or accepting another asset as the reward. This setup takes a different approach, BTC stays on Bitcoin L1 while the bond generates BTC-denominated rewards.
The structure is straightforward. Bitcoin is held in a timelock on Bitcoin, while the required $STX is paired with the bond on Stacks. Anchorage provides the institutional custody and operational layer, while the Stacks side handles the Bitcoin Staking infrastructure.
Anchorage already serves a large base of institutional clients, including major names such as Strategy, Grayscale, BlackRock, and Tether. That matters because institutional Bitcoin adoption isn't only about the yield, the custody and operational setup also has to work for the institutions using it.
The bigger opportunity is putting more institutional BTC to work without moving it away from Bitcoin L1.
institutions can access Bitcoin Staking through Anchorage, the next thing to watch is how much BTC that flows into the bonds.

Few updates from this week on Stacks 🟧
There’s been a lot going on around Stacks this week, especially with Bitcoin Staking picking up. The Genesis Bond launched on Sep 10, with institutions locking BTC on Bitcoin L1 to earn native BTC rewards while pairing it with STX.
STX also pushed above $0.34 mid week as interest around Bitcoin Staking picked up.
@ZestProtocol also dropped a capped mainnet demo of Bitcoin Collateral Vaults, letting users deposit native BTC on L1 and borrow USDC on Ethereum without wrapping their BTC.
Then came one of the bigger updates this week: @Anchorage is building support for Bitcoin Staking on @Stacks. Institutions will be able to enroll and fund a BTC Bond directly from their Anchorage account, with BTC staying on Bitcoin L1 under federally chartered bank custody.
Overall, a pretty big week for Bitcoin on Stacks. Staking is live, more ways to put BTC to work without leaving L1 are coming, and institutional access is starting to expand. 🟧
