The difference between Foote and Malhotra's defensive systems to me are that under Foote, I would often find myself wondering if multiple players knew where they were supposed to be. Under Malhotra, most of the goals against are the result of one guy making a mistake or being late. TLDR; the goals against under Manny seem easier to fix or prevent than the ones under Foote.

Did Adam Foote get fired? Nothing has changed with the Canucks “structure” defensively

Good things happen when EP40 is dialled in. Wins the faceoff against JT, then he and Lekkerimäki win the board battle and get the puck right to DeBrusk. #Canucks

What, pray tell, would have been a more appropriate reaction to being speared in the neck? Have some shame, for god's sake.

Canucks PK is terrible, PP is terrible, have had a young player hit up high in 3 of their last 4 games, Lankinen gets credit for a loss in a game he played 5 minutes of, and they get rewarded by...seeing JT Miller tomorrow

And the #Canucks should've been a major double minor power-play opportunity will go 0-fer. Brock Boeser penalized for slashing, and I've never seen Boeser - who I've covered for 8 years - that upset about a call before.
