The Bitcoin class at @Columbia University just wrapped. We supplied every student with a Blockstream Jade hardware wallet and supplies so they could go hands-on instead of just reading slides. The class has now ended, and the feedback from the teacher was exactly what we hoped for. That's the whole mission. Real hardware, real seed phrases, in the hands of the people who'll be building on this in ten years. Supplying a classroom takes support. If you want to help us do the next one, donate at bitcoinedfoundation.org/dona… Huge thanks to everyone who made it happen πŸ‘‡

🚨 BREAKING: Nearly 594.5 BTC (almost $38M) has been drained from hundreds of Bitcoin wallets in what appears to be one of the largest hardware wallet security incidents in recent years. Investigators are exploring whether the stolen funds may be linked to certain COLDCARD Mk3 wallets, but there is no confirmation yet that these devices are the cause. The investigation is still ongoing. Importantly, Bitcoin itself has NOT been hacked. We break down what happened, why COLDCARD wallets are being examined, what entropy is, and why a "better safe than sorry" approach may be worth considering until more is known. πŸ“° Full article linked in the comments.

"How do I actually hold my own Bitcoin?" That question deserves a better answer than a slide deck. So we teamed up with @BlockstreamJade and supplied a Bitcoin class at Columbia University with hardware wallets. Every student walked out having generated their own seed and set up self-custody with their own hands. Which campus should we hit next? πŸ‘‡

To our community β€” thank you. 🧑 We asked for your feedback, and you showed up with it. So we listened, rolled up our sleeves, and built something better: a brand-new website, made for you. It's cleaner, faster, works great on mobile, and it's packed with free, no-paywall Bitcoin education, beginner guides, an open-source curriculum, self-custody and mining resources, and more. Every bit of it shaped by what you told us. Come take a look πŸ‘‰ bitcoinedfoundation.org And this is what your support makes possible: right now we're helping supply Bitcoin Starter Kits for a Bitcoin class at Columbia University in New York, putting real hardware wallets and hands-on tools directly into students' hands. πŸŽ“βš‘ This is just the beginning. Thank you for building it with us.

🚨 URGENT SECURITY WARNING: SOPHISTICATED DEEPFAKE PHISHING ATTACK TARGETING BITCOIN USERS Martin KuchaΕ™, co-founder of BTC Prague, and Bitcoin treasury strategist Ed Juline report an active, high-level hacking campaign targeting the Bitcoin community. How the attack works: - Victims receive a Zoom or Microsoft Teams call via Telegram - The caller uses AI deepfake video to impersonate a trusted contact - Attackers claim audio issues and instruct victims to install a β€œplugin” - The plugin grants full system access, allowing theft of bitcoin, Telegram accounts, and credentials - Compromised accounts are then used to spread the attack further Ed Juline nearly fell victim after receiving a call that appeared to be from Martin KuchaΕ™. Despite prior warnings and seeing familiar faces on video, a fake audio update prompt nearly compromised his system. He was only spared after being warned to immediately unplug his computer. Immediate actions to take: - Do not accept Zoom or Teams calls initiated via Telegram - Treat all Telegram messages as untrusted, even from known contacts - Never install plugins or updates during a call - Use safer alternatives like Signal, Jitsi, or Google Meet - Install reputable malware protection and remain vigilant These attackers are highly professional and are successfully exploiting trust, urgency, and deepfake technology. This can happen to anyone. Question everything.

This semester we wrapped up a semester-long Bitcoin class at a local high school, and the experience was incredibly encouraging. The focus wasn’t price or hype. It was fundamentals β€” what money is, how fiat systems work and fail, why Bitcoin was created, how it works, and what self-custody really means. For many students, this was the first time they had ever questioned how money works at all. Students especially enjoyed the guest speakers and hands-on activities, including setting up hardware wallets and actually interacting with Bitcoin tools instead of just talking about them in theory. Huge thanks to @Braiins, @btc_cards, @shieldfolio, and @BlockstreamJade for helping make this hands-on education possible. Support from companies that care about education makes a real difference. We’re already planning to run the class again next school year, and continue expanding Bitcoin education in real classrooms. If you believe Bitcoin education belongs in schools and want to support the mission, you can learn more here: bitcoinedfoundation.org
