Babyface is one of the greatest songwriters ever. Top 3 easy. To say otherwise borders on anti-black & is certainly anti-real nigga Stop amplifying the voices of folks who creatively have offered the world nothing of substance up to this point Go write a song if it’s that easy

Jhene Aiko ruined R&B. Before she blew up, women would really SANG and had vocal range and sounded like the church in some capacity. Now all the R&B girls make that soft ass, hella low and quiet voicemail interlude music.

25 years ago today, Usher released '8701', the album that gave him two Hot 100 No.1s and his first Grammy. The title is the date it dropped, 8/7/01, and the year he first sang in church, 1987

I’m old enough to remember there were a few blacks who told me not to vote for Barack in the primary because “he ain’t gon win in November”. I said “cool, he gon lose with my vote” I’m saying the same thing about Keisha She can win if we don’t fuck around with dumb narratives
You folk gonna not like Keisha yourselves into Burt Jones or Rick Jacks. Awesome

MVP by Jack Freeman 🙂 Produced by @bryanmichaelcox D Nice told me he heard it on the radio and he was floored when I told him that B Produced it. And they’re friends lol
Name a song from a producer that sounds almost nothing like their usual style. Like, you had to triple check the credits to make sure you read it right

That man solved the 2008 financial crisis, got Americans healthcare, got the SC to recognize gay marriage, and found Osama Bin Laden. All of this enacted the Republican backlash we’ve been experiencing since 2017
The moment 30 million Americans received healthcare, 2010.

Legendary producer/writer, Bryan Michael-Cox gives his answer of his stranded island album choice… his choice was Sign ‘O the Times.
Prince and The Revolution’s “Parade” being the one album D’Angelo would listen to if he had to pick one funk album makes so much sense to me right now listening back. If you understand, then you get that him picking that album is super specific and it is threaded throughout his prolific catalog. Mine would be PRN’s “Sign Of The Times”, but “Parade” is undoubtedly a genius album.
