I really don't think there's an explanation for this except that Ramaswamy knows that MAGA voters and their pastors will feel a reflexive sense that what a man wants to do to a little girl in the privacy of his home is no one's business but his.
For the people screaming that Vivek had nothing to do with the ad: Not only is he defending it, but he’s pouring *$4 million* into it.
Weaponizing a deadbeat mother whose husband was credibly accused of raping her own daughter…to own the libs, or something. Disgusting behavior.

Amy Acton was raped by her stepfather when she was 12.
As a former prosecutor of child sexual abuse, I saw this pattern too frequently: a child victim discloses the abuse by a stepdad or mom’s boyfriend, and mom takes the abuser’s side because she can’t bear to think that she had exposed her own child to a monster.
Mom is protecting mom—not the child.
Every DA will tell you the same—it’s a painful pattern. It’s the most infuriating thing to hear a mother accuse a child of lying despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. I’ve had jury members plead with me after trial to arrest the mother for aiding and abetting.
Vivek Ramaswamy has embraced the Trumpian role of taking the side of the predator—and despicably rolled out Amy’s estranged mother to denounce Amy.
The brother of @amyactonoh confirms Amy’s account. The child protection authorities did the same—and took custody of both of them away from Acton’s mother.
This is disgusting politics. Vivek, you may not be better than this, but the American people are.

The National Review is doing a good job hammering Vivek for this, and interestingly points out Donna Arthur's own disturbing criminal history. Extremely untrustworthy individual.
Every self-respecting conservative should condemn this.

Would love to read a digger critique that actually engages with the material and isn’t just this at its core

I believed that the problem with schools was low funding. Then I realized it was all a hoax. Money was going into iPads, expensive software subscriptions no one used, admin staff no one needed, lawsuits, new curriculum every year, consultants, unnecessary renovations, etc.
Schools should spend that money instead on attracting good teachers, paying teachers for all the extra jobs they do, investing in good textbooks and proven curriculum ONCE, stationery, buses, keeping the lights/water on, maintaining their facilities, and perhaps field trips.

the one last thing i’ll say about the nikole hannah-jones piece.
as someone who was homeschooled, i can assure you that Many people are sacrificing their children’s education on the altar of their political convictions.

Iran had been trying to normalize relations with the U.S. since Bill Clinton’s presidency. The only reason it didn’t happen, the only reason we are at war with them today, is the Israel lobby

Biden advisor Jon Finer: We should've used arms transfers as leverage but unfortunately our lawyers couldn't determine if Israel was doing war crimes
@PeterBeinart: But didn't the Biden admin pressure lawyers not to make any determination?
Finer: Well *I* never pressured anyone

Nah. You totally waited. Waited until there were no functional hospitals, until the death toll rose in the thousands, waited until they were dropping white phosphorus on civil population, you just waited....did NOTHING to stop the genocide.

A promising young man, a high school honors grad who joined JROTC and dreamed of becoming a doctor, just killed himself because of the Trump admin’s obsession with hurting Haitians and the humiliating shame of an ICE ankle monitor.
His blood is on their hands.

Just asked a rancher about this:
"Allowing on farm slaughter without providing fair market access will create an environment where the biggest cheater wins, not much different than what we have now, but potentially worse as everything from beef to roadkill is mixed in."
The "middle class" was a 50-year fluke designed to prevent a communist revolution during the cold war. now that the threat is gone, the elites are systematically dismantling it. you aren't "falling behind"; you're being pushed back into the peasantry

Mexico had four presidents during the Cold War who were on the CIA payroll. Much more effective than dual citizens, as one US politician recognized decades ago:
Sheinbaum Analyzes Initiative to Prohibit Dual Nationality in the Presidency and Governorships
The idea surfaced from the stalled extradition of ex-Tamaulipas governor Cabeza de Vaca, who holds US-Mexican nationality.
