The Orb: Blue Room (1992). The longest single ever to reach the UK singles chart at 39m 57s; any longer and it would have been reclassified as an album. It still reached No. 8. Top Of The Pops had no idea what to do with ambient music. Legs and Co would have been perfect for dancing along to it, but instead The Orb played chess on stage and the audience stood watching. It was sandwiched between Sophie B. Hawkins and Elton John, which probably added to the confusion.

Neither Cartier-Bresson, Banksy nor Cold War Steve could have come up with such an image. Absolutely perfect composition and lighting (even the road signs are perfect)! 😍

Having long been aware of those tech bros who read my work as utopian porn, where they’ve taken that doesn’t exactly surprise me.

Like clockwork, the govt that has done more to destroy employment than any other in decades is trying to get re-elected by blaming people for being unemployed. No solutions, only punishment. Pure cynicism. stuff.co.nz/politics/3610435…

dudes love to be like "kill your local rapist" because they know they're never going to be in the position to do that, or even be expected to. actually addressing sexual + gendered violence requires a hundred small actions every day, not a performative promise of future violence

I met Cilla Black once - she sat at a table I'd reserved and refused to move. Her spiteful arrogance was astounding.

This video is a fictional conversation created by editing clips from separate unrelated interviews; David Byrne and Ed Sheeran never met or had this exchange. It is from the parody series "The Talk". youtu.be/_iUcGfxEWtY jonasholleruphelle.com/thetalk/

the only lasting 9/11 memory i have is when the budweiser ad with the kneeling clydesdales came on during the super bowl and i said "those horses are praying to mecca" and my friend's uncle got so mad that he had to go in the backyard

There are 5-6 secret additional hours between 1 and 3 am if you know how to do it correctly. This will take years off your life and make you look and feel like shit but also it is peak Going On The Computer Time
Once you completely unmoor your sleep schedule from the rising and setting of the sun, you can access new, formerly grayed out sections of space-time, sort of the dust in between the stars, and most crucially, use it to cram 48 to 96 hours worth of screen time into one single day

In 1845, nearly 79 people were killed in Great Yarmouth after they rushed onto a bridge to see a clown in a tub being pulled by geese.
