Librarians who try to help patrons recover email passwords all know how difficult it can be. But do email providers know that their convoluted, technology-heavy password recovery methods alienate a huge amount of people for whom technology is mystifying, even paranoia-inducing?

Everything goes through email. If you're going through hard times, housing and potential employers all use email for communication. If you can't access your email, you can't access literal lifelines.

If you make access to email a process that only the tech-savvy can handle, you are making sure that only the tech-savvy will succeed in society. These people on the margins need help, they need to be understood.

Watching my son play Horizon Forbidden West this morning. He's loving gameplay and new machines. All I can think about is how cool all the plants are...
I asked my dad what he’s doing for Valentine’s Day and he said “your mom and I have been married 40 years so we don’t care about stuff like that” then I asked my mom what she’s doing for Valentine’s Day and she said “idk but I hope your dad has something fun planned!”

This day has been such a roller coaster. Experienced both incredible hostility and incredible compassion in one twelve hour stretch. Need more of a buffer next time, universe.
A med school prof said to us on week 1, “You’ll never really know what your patients are going through, because almost none of you have ever had a serious illness by the very nature that you got into med school and didn’t have illness weighing you down.” Think about that a lot.

If you enjoy sitting down and gazing placidly at a screen, air traffic controller could be a viable laidback job for you
They're at it again: "Feel Like You're Retired with One of These LAID BACK Jobs!" YahooNews might want to interview an actual #Librarian next time, just sayin' (silence and reading on the job LOL). 😱 news.yahoo.com/feel-retired-…
