But in all seriousness, the reaction from Japanese One Piece fans to people using the Straw Hat Jolly Roger in protests has been genuinely pissing me off. So many of them are more concerned about people bringing One Piece into real-life politics, calling it dangerous rhetoric and worrying that the series could get banned in certain countries, than they are about WHY people are even using it in the first place.
And I think this perfectly highlights the disconnect between Japanese fans and international fans. For some of them, One Piece is a manga they love and want to protect from controversy. For a lot of us, its themes of oppression, corruption, government tyranny and the fight for freedom hit a little closer to home. Some of us have lived through these things. Some of us have watched our families and loved ones suffer and die because of corrupt governments and injustice.
They can afford to treat these themes as fiction because they don’t necessarily have to relate them to their own reality. But when people who have experienced these things firsthand see the Straw Hat flag as a symbol of resistance and freedom, why is they’re first reaction to police how other fans use it rather than understand why it resonates with them in the first place?
And that’s what bothers me. Instead of trying to understand why people from completely different backgrounds see themselves in this story, they’re dismissing it as dangerous political rhetoric that might get one piece banned in these countries

Yeah, it used an AI powered program they wrote, trained on libraries THEY made specifically for it to aid with a very tedious part of animating. It's not generative AI. When will people learn that the problem is generative AI and not AI-powered/assisted tools?

I’m sorry but people have seen images of children’s limbs after they were blown up by American funded Israeli bombs for the first time in their sanitised oblivious lives so demanding empathy for brick and stone now is a bit ridiculous

Iron Maiden had a song about the North American genocide. Slayer had a song about the Holocaust. Black Sabbath had War Pigs ffs. You're just a mental toddler who never once paid attention.

I can’t lie, I walked outside just now on the third Saturday In October and when I felt that 48 degree air brush my body, I came all in my shorts. Nutted right there on my front porch. Made a giant sticky mess all over myself. #Autumn

He stopped the shooter, but he didn't stop the shooting. That's the difference. Three kids and their teacher were already dead, and an unarmed teacher had tackled him first. YOU spent decades blocking laws that keep guns away from kids. Now you're taking a victory lap? Fuck that.
The wedding industry is a scam man 😭
So a woman booked a full-face makeup appointment for $200 and went to her wedding. Now the makeup artist is upset because she normally charges brides $800 for the SAME makeup.
Since when do we get mad because somebody didn’t pay a wedding markup? The makeup didn’t take any longer just because she was a bride! 😂
foster get the fuck out of there
Happy Opener, South Dakota! Foster and I wish you good luck in the field!
Pheasant hunting is part of who we are, and it’s a tradition worth passing on to our kids and grandkids.
As Governor, I partnered with landowners to start the Second Century Initiative, helping turn marginal land into wildlife habitat so the next generation can enjoy the same hunting traditions we grew up with.

this country is never coming back from the racism, the homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, or the pedophilia running rampant through the government
Donald Trump on Abdul El-Sayed:
"I took a lot of heat for calling him Mohammed. And I said, I don't care, I'm the president, I can call you whatever the hell I want. And today a guy sends me something, his name is actually Abdula something. It's Abdulbabababa Mohammed El-Sayed. So his middle name is Mohammed. So I was right, almost. By the way, how about that guy, he's a jihadist. He's a radical left person who hates our country. He's a member of the Muslim Brotherhood."
