I had been holding off on posting my thoughts until the interview was released. Director Iñárritu’s “DIGGER” is a film that all of us living in today’s world should see. It is a work that remains with the audience, provoking reflection and sounding alarms. As you absorb this film and carry it with you, a “tool (a digger)” for delving deeper into the future will surely begin to take shape within you. This is a film that will stay by your side for years to come.

this was fortunately displayed in the *only* room with lights on

i’m also somewhat disappointed by the exhibition itself (what was visible). there was stuff i liked, but a lot of it felt like kitch
i visited @newmuseum for the arthur jafa exhibition. the presentation of jafa’s work is thoughtless and subpar. the insistence on showing photography in the same rooms as film (one needs light, the other darkness!) makes for a poor viewing experience of both.

so you can barely see any of the older, good stuff. but the newer, weaker stuff is on full view. great

the found photo thing becomes additionally frustrating when it’s used as throughout the exhibit as wallpaper. again, while the scale is impressive, the fidelity of the image (from jafa’s clippings) is butchered when blown up that large — ultimately dulling the image’s impact
