Calling recent PhD graduates, 1-2 years post-PhD, not yet ready for a full senior fellowship or lectureship? Join our #preclinical #neuroimaging laboratory on a prestigious King’s Prize Fellowship:
kcl.ac.uk/jobs/094871-kings-… (deadline 28th November 2024)
Our laboratory brain-imaging.org offers access to cutting-edge technology, including a 9.4T scanner with cryoprobe, state-of-the-art EEG and fiber photometry rigs and a full range of behavioural, surgical, and wet-lab capabilities.
If you’re keen to take up or take your preclinical neuroimaging to the next level contact us for an informal discussion about potential sponsorship.

Great work from a great team in Coimbra and Lisbon
New paper out in @braincomms ! We developed a morphine-conditioned protocol suitable for contextual stimuli presentation inside a fMRI scanner, to analyse functional maps of drug-related memory that may support the relapse-triggering ability of opioids

You all know how fMRI results are often described as 'brain areas lighting up'? It's a metaphorical way of referring to the statistical 'colouring in' of regions with increased signals, typically using red-yellow hues.
Here is our favourite example of the brain signal truly 'lighting up' in a single mouse. It shows increased blood flow (indicated by more yellow) in the striatum, accumbens, and cingulate areas after the administration of a neuroactive drug, amphetamine.
This visualization was created by (twitter-less) Eugene Kim using a modified version of pulsed ASL on Bruker 9.4 scanner. #Neuroscience #fMRI #BrainActivity 🧠🌟 If you are at #EMIM2024 come and see our Friday morning poster Neuro-035

Exciting results from our collaboration with @carmensandi10 lab: research in a rodent model pinpoints reduced glucocorticoids' key role in PTSD traits, exploring impacts on brain structure, sleep & memory. tinyurl.com/5n7twwx6
Glucocorticoid treatment could be a game-changer for PTSD. Intriguingly, rats with both extremely low and high glucocorticoid stress responses showed reduced hippocampal volume. It underscores the importance of balanced glucocorticoids for brain health.
It's not a ‘one size fits all’ for stress; both extremes can lead to abnormalities, as seen in earlier findings also by Sandi et al. (pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3044…). Seems it's all about striking the right stress balance!
