FUN FACT FRIDAY: Potter is the third Polk State Baseball centerfielder to win a Rawlings Gold Glove in four years
Over Head Coach Al Corbeil's 16 years at the helm for Polk State Baseball, the Eagles have had talent at virtually every position. Over the last four seasons, however, perhaps no position has been more shored up -- at least defensively -- than centerfield.
Last month, freshman Bradyn Potter became the third Polk State player at the position to be recognized nationally for his defense with a Rawlings Gold Glove. In addition to a stellar year at the plate in which he led the Eagles in batting average (.379), on-base percentage (.494), slugging (.538), hits (74), runs scored (61) and stolen bases (20), Potter finished with a perfect fielding percentage while adding four outfield assists. In 2025, Polk State's Jordan Thomas was named FCSAA Defensive Player of the Year before winning a Gold Glove. In 2023, Nelson Taylor earned a Gold Glove.
In addition to becoming the third centerfielder in four years to win a Gold Glove, Potter is the sixth Eagle to do so under Corbeil. Other previous winners are former pitcher Alec Asher and catcher Erik Hindmon, who each took home a Gold Glove in 2012. Shortstop Dakota Harris earned a Gold Glove in 2022 when he was recognized as NJCAA Co-Defensive Player of the Year.

28’ OF Chase Potter (FL) is the #6 overall OF in Florida. Potter shows off his talent with his first swing of the game being a triple. He has present power and good barrel control. Patient hitter!

Thomas and Taylor would both go on to earn national recognition for their play out in centerfield with a Rawlings Gold Glove. Potter hopes to add his name to that list as well. Under Corbeil, five Polk State players have won Rawlings Gold Gloves. The 2026 NJCAA Gold Glove winners will be announced in June.
