If you were on X this past week or two, your timeline was flooded with Ghiblified photos. And if you haven’t been under a rock, you’re probably vibe-coding games or still trying to wrap your head around MCP.
But for ME, this whole timeline feels like a FEVER DREAM—because for the past 6 months, we’ve quietly been building an AI-native game that’s already found real traction and aligns exactly with where culture and tech are headed.
Sorry, not sorry—here comes a thread 👇👇👇

The lights are up, the crowd is restless, and the Arena is ready! PRIME TIME goes live October 20, bringing THE FINALS into a new chapter. More to play for. More ways to stand out. More reasons to come back! Steal the show!

If coding agents will write most of our code, what happens with our communities and sense of ergonomics? How does it impact our compilers and tools?
.@benthompson says consumer AI has a marketing problem because the average consumer doesn't actually want to be more productive.
"Tech companies are like, 'Let us book your flight for you!' I’ve had a personal assistant for 10 years. He does not come within an inch of booking my flights for me. That is crazy talk."
"I understand which ones are gonna be delayed. I know which seat I want to be on. So the fact that this is continually a demo is hilarious to me."
“Number two: people love shopping. They don’t want to be productive. They want to be entertained. One of the biggest forms of entertainment is shopping.”
"Also, there’s so much information on a product page. Companies have spent so much energy focusing on that. You look at apparel as a category. They’re going to tell you what size the model is wearing, and you want to know that, and you want to look at the different styles."
"The idea of having a personal agent that’s going and getting some of the information and bringing it back to you, and then you’re like, 'Well, what about this other thing? Tell me about this thing.'"
"And you have your eager tech company executive say, “Oh, I have an assistant that can do it for you!"
"And it’s like, no. Not only do I want to do it, I want to complain about it. I’m enjoying myself complaining right now, okay? Would you just let me be and live my life?"

There's a big difference between making a game that looks good in a video and a game people actually wanna play

a quick note on startups (didn't feel qualified enough to make this a blog post, take it or leave it)
- the point of a startup is to have a bet based on new technology, new IP, some novel way of thinking, whatever that changes the fundamental physics of how people are already doing things
- by definition this will/should feel strange at first to everyone, and it's your job to figure out the story/narrative to make people _want_ it (whether by software, marketing, both, etc). traction is key, you have to make yourself desirable
- and going up against incumbents means that your one feature/bet has to be _so good_ that users will be fans of your thing even if you're missing very obvious features that your competitors have
- then, you need to have constructed your operation/company/workforce to move so quickly that even if/when other people copy your thing, you're moving on to the next thing that your thing uniquely enables
- without this... construction, you're otherwise simply competing to build a good business. that's not bad, but so much harder to be ambitious
best of luck
