After years of writing about tech, I finally started writing about something I’ve built myself.
My first blog post is about how @voxatmosapp came to life, from collecting Dolby Atmos albums to building an app with zero coding experience.
More stories to come.

There are so many great music widgets out there, with vinyl records, radios, cassette tapes, you name it.
But since @voxatmosapp is all about Dolby Atmos, I always felt those retro designs were a bit out of place.
(Well, quadraphonic vinyl was a thing. Maybe I should seriously reconsider.)
The widgets are here.
Daily Dolby Atmos picks. Recent plays. Pinned albums.
Three new Home Screen widgets in VoxAtmos 3.8.

Some features require Plus. Full Apple Music playback requires a subscription.

SF startup life: 4 launches & announcements in 2 weeks
First free weekend: curled up at home clinging to a piece of my past life as a reporter
If you want a mood check on China tech, please give it a read -
I wrote about a different kind of romance scam (local governments & startups), Chinese VCs’ rush to have their last dance, and fond memories of Shenzhen’s humid and lively summer 🥟

A quick word:
Many people do not know me and are new to my work, and thus are quick to brand my reporting as rumor-mongering or fake news.

The biggest problem right now is speed. It takes around one minute or so from giving the first command to the speaker actually playing. But to be fair, choosing something in the Sonos app might take just as long.
I gave it a vague command: play some Chinese music in the dining room. Instead of starting with my favorites, @TencentHunyuan Hy4 picked Apple Music’s A-List Mandopop, a playlist I’d never played before.
In that sense, Sonos feels smart again.
Day 1 of @Sonos 27 MCP: it works with @WorkBuddy_AI, but not @ChatGPT. So I gave it a try.
The way it connects with other services feels like the good old Sonos.
The interesting part is that in this way Sonos handles the system, but the AI decides what you actually hear.
Finally brought @voxatmosapp to iPad.
It started on iPhone, made its way to cars with CarPlay and to the living room with Apple TV, and now it’s ready for another screen, or maybe two 👀
iPhone. CarPlay. Apple TV. iPad. More to come.
VoxAtmos 3.7 is now available.

My app @voxatmosapp somehow made it to No. 2 overall among free TV apps on the Hong Kong App Store. Top 100 in Taiwan, and Top 200 in the US.
Never thought my little app could get anywhere near that position this soon. Totally unexpected.
Got goosebumps when I saw it.
My Dolby Atmos music app, VoxAtmos is both available on Apple TV and in English. Please feel free to give it a try ❤️
What I like about Hy models is that they’re really cheap, often free, and they get the work done.
Hy4p is free for the next two weeks, so try it yourself.

Tencent is moving surprisingly fast with Hy. Hy3p still feels like yesterday.
I’ve been using Hy4p & WorkBuddy for @voxatmosapp. I care less about benchmarks, but in my experience, it’s been more reliable with complex tasks. And Hy4 simply makes WorkBuddy a much stronger player.
🚀 Hy4 preview is here.
770B, 49B active, 1M context.
Built for productivity.
Open source frontier.
Consistent affordable price.
Use it. Tell us what breaks.

I’ve been using Hy3 for the past three weeks on my @voxatmosapp, and it’s honestly beyond my expectations. It made me rethink what AI models today can do: they can create real impact at an incredibly low cost. It’s free this month, so I’d definitely recommend giving it a try.
🚀 Hy3 is now live in WorkBuddy global—free for users worldwide through August 31, 2026 (PT).
Research, analyze data, create documents and presentations, and handle workplace communications in an agentic AI workspace—no setup required.
Hy3 is also available through Tencent Design Miora and Tencent Cloud TokenHub.
Try it:

A month after we shipped Hy3, the more interesting question became where you can actually use it
More entry points live now:
>WorkBuddy, our agent workspace. In internal evals at tencent, Hy3 delivered a task success rate above 90% and cut average task time by 34% over the previous Hy model. Grab it at workbuddy.ai
>Miora, our creative studio, Hy3 handling reasoning across multi-agent design work
>TokenHub, Tencent Cloud's MaaS platform, with routing across Hy3 and other models
More of the Tencent Cloud AI-native stack is next, and the API and open weights aren't going anywhere
what's the touchpoint you'd want to see Hy3 in next?
