For #MushroomMonday it was treat to see Porcelain Fungus, Oudemansiella mucida today. It looks so beautiful with the sunlight shining through the gills 🥰

Just had my possible Splendid Waxcaps (right set of pics) confirmed which is exciting! Even more exciting the left pics which I identified as Scarlet (but weren’t quite right for) have now been identified as Hygrocybe neomarchii which I’d been wanting to see!😀❤️ #mushroommonday

11/10/26 #Madeira - The Madeiran endemic Goodyera macrophylla is one of the world’s rarest #orchids, restricted to a few stations in the north of the island, some of which rarely have flowering plants. It is considered Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List @EuropeanOrchids

A lovely day wandering midst waxcaps in the Peak District 🥰 Finally caught up with & smelt the Cedarwood Waxcap & my first time seeing Bitter. A good day, 12 species of waxcap seen in total & if the possible Splendid is confirmed 13, not bad at all 🥰 #mushroommonday

7/10/26 #Cumbria - Today’s find was one of my highlights of the year so far. The Date Waxcap (Hygrocybe spadicea) is one of the UK’s rarest #chegd fungi and one that is notoriously difficult to nail down. Hopefully will come across some better examples next time…

A cheeky #fungi foray after work yielded ten waxcap species, one of them Garlic, new to me. My son’s first time of seeing red & pink waxcaps, he absolutely loved it!!! 🥰 🔁 from top left Scarlet, Ballerina, Honey, Blackening, Glutinous, Slimy, Parrot, Golden, Garlic & Snowy.

A little late for #mushroommonday but I’m so excited to see this on a little foray after work! I think it’s the Waxcap Facepainter, Metarhizium marquandii. Growing on the gills of a Snowy Waxcap. #Fungi #fungifriday

I was so happy to spot some glorious Dotted Stem Boletes for #mushroommonday. Aren’t they stunning! The colour change upon bruising was so rapid and check out that finely punctate stipe! #fungi #fungifriday

Here’s a rare beauty for #mushroommonday, the stunning Crimson Bolete, Chalciporus rubinus. It has gorgeous carmine red, decurrent pores & red upper stem which gives it a very striking appearance. Very rare & classed as vulnerable on the ICUN red list, I left it undisturbed ❤️

Found another! Special thanks to @lukaslarge for his identification yesterday that the ‘frill’ is another #fungi, Syzygites megalocarpus, a mould with an impressive mycelium which delights in the common name of Troll-doll Fungus! How cool is that! Zoom in to see the flies!

Here’s a closer up photo which shows grey structures amongst the mycelium, which I think are the sporangiophores.

Cute as a button, for #mushroommonday, a Cortinarius species perfectly demonstrating why this group are known as the Webcaps! Look at that cobweb-like veil or cortina! 🕸️ #fungi #fungifriday

For the #wildflowerhour #favouriteplant challenge 2026, I'm probably going to choose this lovely patch of Coralroot #Orchids (Corallorhiza trifida) from the dunes of South Cumbria. They were absolutely magnificent 🥰

My #FavouritePlant of 2026 for #wildflowerhour has to be this one. It’s been on my wish list for such a long time, the stunning hybrid between the Bee and Fly Orchid! Such enchanting, fascinating flowers! 🪰🐝 🥰
