side note: in boringfunnels.com I built a client finder tool that your agent (Claude Code is best) uses via MCP:
1) to find ideal boring businesses doing more than $2m
2) contact info
3) a funnel analysis to find their leaks
4) an offer to sell them
5) and emails to send
I want to make it easy for anyone to take advantage of the Main Street AI opportunity!
there’s no better time to own or help a boring business in the skilled trades and apply your AI knowledge to it
ai isn't replacing any of these and I guarantee there are millionaires in your city running some of them
- garage door repair
- garage restoration, storage, and floor refinishing
- drywall repair
- artificial turf installation
- composite deck installation
- fencing
- decorative concrete and driveway work
- asphalt surfacing
- emergency water, fire, mold remediation
- custom wallpaper installation
- generator sales and installation
- sauna and cold plunge installation
- custom home gym design and installation
- commercial kitchen hood cleaning and grease removal
beat them in the lead gen and customer service game. a bit better SEO, ppc, social, digital presence...calling back leads and getting someone there when you say you will goes an extremely long way
HOW TO BUILD YOUR AI SERVICES BUSINESS (targeting Main Street "boring businesses")
In 39 minutes:
- why you shouldn't sell ai automation, seo/aeo, or ad services
- why you shouldn't go after HVAC and plumbing companies
- why you should sell the ai reinvention of a $15,000-$20,000 service for $3,000-$5,000 with SOFTWARE margins
and exactly how I would do it...with a full funnel for a roofing company included

if you can build funnels that convert you can basically write your own ticket as a marketing engineer:
- start your own ai services firm and sell to clients
- get more leads and sales from the traffic you already get
- turn the products you/your team build into offers customers want
I'm convinced that in today's world getting traffic and building the thing isn't really the problem
its creating the copy, the design, the funnel, the follow up mechanisms at the speed of ai
without needing the have the taste and the expertise
that's why I created boringfunnels, really to just solve my own problem for the things I create
it finds the best funnels on the internet and lets your coding agent access it via MCP so you can build funnels like the best quickly
plus it has a free library you can browse to find components, copy, landing pages and more
love to see what you think, btw Opus 5.5 cooks at video
the issue with codex especially if you don't know to watch out for it: it will write 26,000 lines of tests and still doesn't ship a feature
it's best suited as a workhorse with a tight spec or as a reviewer, yep, even with astra
I find my velocity is much higher with opus 5.5 ... I use codex in a couple parts of my workflow right now but I really slow down when I let it captain the ship...anyone else?

boring businesses need you, you just need to figure out how to position and package your offer most of the time
- target the higher ticket businesses
- niche down until it's uncomfortable
- get one case study
- develop lead generation systems
- productize over time
(and don't try to sell them "ai")
the best way to sell AI to a local business is to never say the word "AI."
soon as they hear it they tune out. they don't care what's running under the hood, they just want to stay booked. so sell them that. Marcus in our community 3x'd a mobile detailing shop doing exactly this:
1. lead with the result. "i'll get you more jobs." don't explain the tech, they just want the calls.
2. start with a free audit. tell them you'll dig through their site and their ads and find the jobs they're missing. if you find something good, you talk. if not, they keep the findings anyway.
3. skip the monthly fee. take a cut of the jobs you actually book them. no retainer, you only get paid when they get paid. owners say yes to that fast.
4. you own the phone, they own the work. you run the marketing and the booking, they show up and detail the car. you never touch a wrench.
5. go after the bigger jobs. ceramic coating, paint protection, scratch and dent. those customers aren't haggling over twenty bucks, and the same pitch lands a much bigger ticket.
to them none of this is about AI. they just want a full calendar and one less headache. the AI is your side of the table, not theirs.
