An advice from a survivor of abuse: Prioritise your safety & health, but please do not stay silent. Start a whisper campaign because trust me, even if you are trying to move on, your abuser is busy 24x7 telling people lies about you so that you are ostracised (continued..)
lmao so that account who said not to tell other ppl about your abuser ended up being an abuser

Here, by ‘feminist credentials’ I mean things like being a little vocal on the subject by publishing papers, teaching feminist theory etc. These people don’t necessarily care for survivors of abuse. We should be wary of performance (output) & care more for how people treat others
Abusers are often found in the company of ‘strong’ women who are known for their feminist credentials. The keyword here is ‘known’ cause this sort of optics goes a long way in ensuring abusers remain protected.

guy who assaulted me in a frat married a woman who has a substack where she wrote an essay about believing college survivors and doing better by them, quoting my former coworker, and decrying the voluntary intoxication loophole. life is a joke and nothing matters

‘Delhi isn’t safe anymore!’ When was it safe? Who was it safe for?

A racial attack isn’t limited to a racist slur being hurled. It’s about who is perceived as an easy target. The systemic nature of such murders and assault needs to be addressed. This is an everyday reality.
Law and order in Delhi has gone to the dogs. Delhi Police is too busy harassing students and assaulting journalists like Shaheen and Nafeesa, but has no time to prevent actual crime. #JusticeforVikramChongtham

yeah donot bring the vegetarianism of india as a pro-vegan argument because people here are regularly lynched/murdered for eating meat and is completely based on caste hierarchy and ritual purity, vegetarianism in india is not vegan nor for animal liberation
It's interesting how there's a stereotype on social media about veganism being mainly a white thing, when Black Americans are 3 times more likely to be vegan than the general population. And globally, the 4 most vegetarian countries are India, Mexico, Brazil, and Taiwan.

I’ve noticed a recurring pattern: the survivor of abuse who was once in a relationship with the abuser is shamed for their past association when they finally speak up, but the close friends & associates of the same abuser are never held accountable for continuing to be enablers.
it’s so funny how when an abuser is called out, suddenly all their friends have only ever been associations, and somehow everyone already knew how this person was evil but never really publicly called them out until a victim of abuse decides to speak up? interesting

Basically, the ones who are actually abused end up being the most vilified. They endure violence in isolation & are left to face the repercussions of speaking up on their own. Meanwhile, friends of abusers benefit from being evasive because they are permitted to.

‘Murshidabad tops the list with 4.55 lakh deletions. Similarly, there have been large deletions in North-24 Parganas and Nadia, where Matuas are in large numbers.’

Nithin Raj, a 23 year old BDS student at Anjarakandy Dental College, Kannur died by suicide after relentless caste based abuse from seniors & faculty, including HOD Dr M K Ram & Prof Sangeetha. Another life lost to caste, and some still have the nerve to pretend it doesn’t exist!

Very helpful actually. I’ve known many upper caste didi dadas from small towns who bullied people from marginalised castes & tribes. They weren’t classist, but VERY casteist. And then there are the typical urban elite ‘clasteists’ who reek of classism + casteism. Interesting.
slip of tongue helped me invent a word “CLASTE” 😛 will global elites accept my new liberal arts groundbreaking invention

For those who are struggling with this, try picking up an anthology. Start by reading shorter pieces…short stories, essays. Graphic narratives help too. Not saying that their content makes it ‘low effort’ but you will finish them sooner and it will encourage you to keep going.

Also, do try highlighting, taking notes (doing something manually). If the point is to get back into the habit of reading again I think this really helps. Start somewhere and keep going 🌻

That is why I left. As a survivor of abuse, being a part of academia was unbearable. Those who teach feminist theory protect abusers, those who teach or write books on caste are casteist, & so on. These academics collectively uphold an abusive setup bent upon destroying lives.
What do we even get from education these days yaar 😭 If this is actually a person with a degree in women's studies, what is the point of pursuing academia at all 🫩

So many people who are empathetic, genuinely devoted to learning and sharing knowledge — those who know how to treat others with the kindness and dignity — canNOT survive in this system. The system demands you hunger for power and that you keep hierarchies alive.
