“Kiss from a Rose” was written by Seal around 1987 but only became a worldwide phenomenon after its inclusion in the 1995 film Batman Forever. Originally released on his 1994 album Seal II, the song attracted only modest attention before director Joel Schumacher insisted on featuring it during the film's end credits and in its promotional campaign. The renewed exposure propelled the song to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, while it also reached the Top 10 in the UK and several other countries. At the 1996 Grammy Awards, it won Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance
