Before a patient walks in for their scan, someone makes sure the machine is ready by checking calibrations, testing components, and catching small issues before they become big problems.
That's what preventive maintenance is really about. It's not flashy. But it's absolutely critical.
We recently did exactly that. A full preventive maintenance check on a CT scanner.
Missing measurements cost more than you think.
Went on a hospital site inspection with a senior engineer and a PM. Biggest takeaways:
π Plan equipment size, placement and power needs BEFORE civil work starts
π Document everything
Biomedical engineering is also project management. π₯

@NootropicsDAO_ Ignition Sale on @BioProtocol just crossed the line after 14 days.
The raise is complete.
Currently on 1.2X oversubscribed.
AI that traces a molecule from binding to brain systems
Now the build begins.
Completed @SiemensHealth's online training on Computed Tomography Scan (CT Scan) hardware.
Then took it further with hands-on training.
Because reading about hardware and touching it are two different things.
Grateful for the growth. π©»βοΈ

π΄ BOMBSHELL: Some Chinese developers just humiliated the entire paid AI video industry
You upload a photo
You upload an audio
And it generates a video of a person speaking in sync that lasts for minutes
It's called LongCat-Avatar
It's open source and on top of that FREE
What used to require a camera, studio, and editing now comes straight from a repo
I'll leave the repo link in the comments
Bio has gone quiet on Ignition Sales. Next week that changes.
NeuroLab AI from @NootropicsDAO_ predicts how any compound hits the brain.
- Cognition.
- Side effects.
- Which ideas actually deserve lab time.
The sale window is 15 to 17 September on @BioProtocol
Pledge BioXP plus USDC on @base.

Doctors already use MRI to see a brain tumor. The hard part is drawing the tumor on the images, slice by slice.
To break down what's happening here is that a 3D model studied MRI scans from 300 real people. Then it was shown 60 new scans it had never seen and asked to mark the tumor areas.
The software guesses where the dead core is, where the swelling is, and where the active tumor is. A doctor can then check and fix the map instead of starting from a blank scan.
These are but a few ways AI has been implemented in the medical imaging field.
In real clinics, tools like this only help if a human still reviews them.

Happy New Month, DeSci community.
Welcome to September.
New month.
New ideas.
New opportunities to learn, build, and contribute.
Weβre excited for everything ahead as we continue building bridges into the decentralized science ecosystem.
Letβs build.
One thing I'm learning in medical imaging is that the scan itself is only part on the story.
Spent part of the week testing a CT injector before it goes into use.
It's what pushes contrast dye into a patient during a CT scan so doctors can actually see soft tissue, blood vessels and tumors clearly.
Get the pressure or timing wrong and the whole scan is useless. The image quality suffers along with the diagnosis.
It's easy to focus on the big machines, the MRI, the CT scanner itself and forget about the smaller components working alongside them.
