Very excited to be teaming up with @OnlyCFO on this series. Yours truly is hosting fireside chat conversations with fellow CFOs, service providers, bloggers, and others active in the operating finance community about a range of topics.
First up: Annual Planning.
OnlyCFO webinars is kicking off in December with one of my favorite topics: Annual Planning for 2025.
There is a lot more stuff that might mess up your plan in 2025, so come join the discussion
@bmweis will be moderating!

Instagram didn’t do this with 13 engineers. Their 13 engineers stood on the shoulders of open source maintainers that built the majority of the code and have been thanklessly maintaining it, unpaid, ever since.
If you want something done, it should go without saying that paying them to do it is often the best approach.
We at Tidelift have been paying open source maintainers to maintain projects and secure the software supply chain for years.
Here’s a HOWTO of what we’ve learned.
Tidelift co-founder @luis_in_brief walks readers through how Tidelift partners with (and pays!) open source maintainers—and why it's a viable solution to securing the #OSS "supply chain"

“A great dashboard provides the right information to the right people at the right time to make sure a company is making the best decisions. The process of building a great dashboard is almost just as important as the actual dashboard itself…”
Great dashboards can change the world.
Ok, too far but a good dashboard can materially impact a business by providing the right information to the right people at the right time.
Check out @bmweis masterclass on building dashboards that matter.

This is quite literally why I joined @tidelift 6+ years ago. To leverage the benefits of a commercial model to help open source thrive, not just sustain.

A big part of healthy communication in relationships is feeling safe enough to address something that bothers you. If you have to argue about your feelings, the conversation should be over.

Probably the best, most comprehensive write up about comp plan design I’ve read.
My one gripe is with draws, something I’m generally against. Instead, I prefer a thoughtful commission guarantee schedule that trends down as the rep ramps.
Carrot > Stick
Some thoughts on creating commission plans.
Biggest takeaway is that if the people creating the comp plans don’t have the right business context and understand unit economics then it will probably be the best plan.

Those headwinds many of us are feeling in B2B SaaS are real.
@OnlyCFO hits the nail on the head with this one.
As a SaaS metrics nerd, this is probably the best quick resource I've seen to date. It aligns with my first-hand experience as a finance leader.

This is very cool.
@numeric_io just raised the bar, eliminating the barrier to entry for those of you still managing your close in Excel.
On top of that, Numeric AI looks super slick. We plan to use it to clean up some of our internal controls and sharpen or accounting memos.
We are thrilled to be sharing two major releases: Numeric Essentials — a free close management product — and Numeric AI!
Get started with both today 📷The close is hard enough. Your tools should be fast, easy, and delightful. Get free access, forever.
