“B Michael, he was not only Cicely Tyson’s friend but also her exclusive couture designer. She wore the most elegant yet dramatic hats, a throwback to a tradition and a time when ladies dressed to the hilt. Her stockings, her gloves, and her coats were chosen with great discipline and personal attention to quality and luxury. When she received her honorary Oscar in 2018, she wore gray and silver crystal pleating and superb silver lamé leather opera-length gloves. Total elegance.”

Pure joy is timeless and knows no boundaries. This captivating video captures legendary singer-songwriter Valerie Simpson, iconic American fashion and interior designer B Michael, with his husband and business partner Mark Anthony Edwards CEO of B Michael Global letting go of the world's weight and dancing with complete abandon. Moving seamlessly to Rihanna's "Only Girl in the World" under the warm, soulful lights of the historic Sugar Bar NYC, their vibrant energy becomes a masterclass in living fully in the moment. It is a beautiful reminder that no matter our milestones or industries, we are all connected by rhythm, community, and the enduring power of creative expression. Tre Major’s passing is a profound loss to the world of beauty and artistry. He didn't just style hair and apply makeup; he sculpted confidence, elegance, and dignity. Having had the honor of working with Tre' on occasion to transform my "MUSE" the legendary Cicely Tyson into true Hollywood royalty, I witnessed firsthand his rare, transformative genius. Tre fought his battle with cancer with the same fierce grace and quiet strength that he brought to his craft. While his presence will be deeply missed, his brilliant legacy remains etched in every iconic look he created, forever reminding us of what it means to turn artistry into majesty.
Rest in power, Tre. 💔

What an unforgettable, deeply moving afternoon at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit. “Stitched in Excellence” was so much more than a conversation about fashion—it was a celebration of legacy, education, and the passing of the torch.
Sharing the stage with the visionary students from Pensole Lewis College of Business and Design and the College for Creative Studies (CCS) reminded us exactly why we do this work. The future of American design is in brilliant, capable, and resilient hands.
Mark-Anthony and I are profoundly honored to officially entrust several of the iconic couture gowns I created for the legendary, late Cicely Tyson to The Wright Museum’s permanent collection. To know that her elegance, her power, and our shared history will live on to inspire, educate, and empower generations to come is a gift beyond words.
Thank you to Detroit, Jennifer Evans, the entire team at the Wright Museum, and everyone who joined us for this milestone chapter of the MUSE journey.
The legacy continues. ❤️

Standing before history at The Wright Gala 2026, iconic American fashion and interior designer B Michael and his husband and business partner, Mark-Anthony Edwards, embody the very legacy the institution preserves: they continue to write it.
Their presence at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History is a beautiful intersection of past brilliance and living artistry. Having famously gifted historic, custom couture worn by their eternal muse, Harlem’s own Cicely Tyson, to the museum’s permanent archives, their attendance at this gala is more than a formal appearance. It is a profound testament to the power of Black love, collaborative vision, and creative excellence. Together, they weave the threads of cultural memory into the fabric of the future, proving that true style is both a preservation of heritage and an act of revolutionary beauty.

To the Executive Team and Leadership of the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History,
On the heels of our “Stitched in Excellence” conversation and the remarkable 2026 Gala, “Our History, Our Voice, Our Future”, Mark Anthony and I want to express our deepest, most heartfelt gratitude.
Stepping into the halls of the Charles Wright Museum is never merely an appearance; it is a sacred homecoming. To witness our couture ensembles—including the enduring legacy of Harlem’s own Cicely Tyson—housed and celebrated within an institution dedicated to the preservation and elevation of our collective soul is an honor that defies simple description.
Our conversation, brilliantly guided by Jennifer Evans and four visionary young designers from The Pensole Lewis College of Business and Design (PLC) and College of Creative Studies (CCS), filled us with an overwhelming sense of stewardship and hope. To look into the eyes of this next generation is to know that the thread we are pulling is strong, unbroken, and destined for heights we once only dared to imagine. And to gather the very next evening under the banner of a gala that boldly declares who we were, who we are, and who we are yet to become was nothing short of transformative.
This photograph captured in that space—standing alongside, (L-R) Lance Wheeler, Vice President of Learning and Engagement, Neil A. Barclay, President and Chief Executive Officer and Jennifer Evans, Vice President of Exhibitions and Collections—is more than a frame in time. For us, it is visual proof of what becomes possible when we refuse to wait for permission, when we deliberately uplift one another, and when we weave our authentic cultural narratives into the highest echelons of art, history, and global design.
Thank you for holding the door open, for anchoring our stories with such dignity, and for partnering with us to ensure that Black excellence is not viewed as a momentary exception, but as the permanent architecture of history.
With deep respect, admiration, and boundless gratitude,
B Michael & Mark Anthony Edwards

A Monument to Elegance, Artistry, and Love ❤️
This striking photograph captures a beautiful intersection of Black excellence, high fashion, and musical royalty. Standing side-by-side are towering figures of culture: the incomparable singer and songwriter Valerie Simpson-Ashford, American fashion and interior designer B Michael, and the legendary king of romance, Freddie Jackson. Every smile in this frame radiates the sophistication, warmth, and artistic genius they have collectively gifted to the world.
Following the profound heartbreak of Freddie Jackson’s passing on October 5, 2026, this image transforms from a celebration of friendship into a timeless monument to his legacy. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we look at this photograph with immense pride. Freddie spent decades providing the soulful soundtrack to our lives—shaping our love stories with an unmistakable voice that defined classic R&B.
While his physical presence is deeply missed, this image reminds us that true elegance never fades. Freddie’s warmth, his enduring bond with icons like Valerie Simpson, and his contribution to Black artistry will remain forever woven into our cultural history. He lived with dignity, loved his community fiercely, and left behind a glorious, romantic legacy that time can never erase.
💔 Rest in power, Freddie Jackson—your light and your music live on.

For any true lover of literature, supporting MUSE: Cicely Tyson and Me: A Relationship Forged in Fashion by acclaimed American fashion and interior designer B Michael is a profound act of cultural preservation and artistic celebration.
Books at their finest do not merely recount facts—they capture the invisible threads of human connection, historical legacy, and creative excellence. Supporting MUSE is vital for anyone who values the power of storytelling because:
• It Redefines the fashion Memoir as an Art Form: B Michael’s work brilliantly demonstrates that fashion is a language of profound self-expression and dignity. The book serves as a literal and visual narrative, weaving history and emotion into the tapestry of a 16-year creative partnership with Hollywood royalty.
• It Chronicles Black Excellence and Creative Independence: As a trailblazing CFDA member and the first Black American luxury designer to dress an Oscar recipient, B Michael’s literary contribution documents a pivotal era of representation and high-fashion sovereignty. It honors the "fashion elders" who shattered societal barriers regarding age and race.
• It Celebrates the Ultimate Gift of Friendship: Beyond the glamorous red carpets, White House galas, and couture craftsmanship, MUSE teaches a masterclass in devotion. It illustrates how two visionary minds can elevate, protect, and inspire one another.
By bringing this book into your collection, you are not just purchasing a fashion memoir—you are archiving a monument to American craftsmanship, safeguarding the legacy of the legendary Cicely Tyson, and ensuring that stories of deep, transformative artistic alliance continue to enrich our global literary heritage.
