In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

Loving movies is a very peculiar love-hate relationship. I mean, you love what they can be, but you also love the crap they are. I have my limits, though. (1994)

Calling a timeout there was a disaster. If you fail with three timeouts, you can still get the ball back using your timeouts with a stop. Now, the game came down to one play.

You're not going to find someone better informed, more passionate and more capable at explaining how writing for TV works than my pal Blake Masters (Creator of Brotherhood. Not the "other" one.)

Toxic privilege: 1) Behaving as if your "transgressive" actions carry no actual risk 2) Believing cruelty is not only allowed but free of consequences as long as it is aim at those outside your privileged group 3) Displaying horror/outrage when 1 & 2 turn out to be false #empathy

Reck-Malleczewen blames Nazi rationing for widespread flatulence in Germany: "a result of the gas resulting from pulpy, clay-ey bread. The air in the cafes is pestilential. No one even bothers anymore to hold back his wind."

A warning to my followers. Do not get your car at Audi Beverly Hills. They have no interest in long term customer relationship and look at you only as a pocket to suck money out of as fast as possible. Morality be damned. #audi #fletcherjones

I contacted them. And asked them to supply me with the necessary paperwork to contest the fine. I didn't even ask them to deal with it. I asked only for the necessary paperwork.

5 unanswered voicemails + 4 unanswered emails (including to the general manager) + 3 calls transferred to the wrong department later... I officially gave up and have decided to take my complaint to social media. DO NOT GET YOUR CAR FROM THESE PEOPLE.

When compared to the current punk/hard-core scene, What often gets forgotten is just how funny much of early punk music was. Snotty but funny.

While The Godfather may be Coppola’s masterwork, looking back over his career, I would argue that his artistic voice, the art that best expresses his personal vision of cinema is actually the one shown in Rumble Fish, One from the Heart and Dracula.

Reading all the walz stories, I suspect the core of his appeal just might be his very specific Gen X pragmatism, combined with basic human empathy.

Just finished @WarrenZanes massively insightful book on Springsteen's Nebraska. It makes me want to sit down and write 3,000 words comparing the album cut of Open All Night (anxiety/dread/longing) with the boogie woogie rave up version played at Jazzfest '06 (communal joy)

Which leads to a discussion of "Why does Jerry Lee Lewis live at the Hamburg Star Club still sounds more dangerous than 99% of modern rock records. note: Dylan's '65 Maggie's farm at Newport has the same aura

Finally looping back to Mr. Zanes book -- The discussion of a young artist creating their best art by not realizing what they're doing is art reminds me of how Coppola has talked about how the first Godfather was "money job" to enable his art...
