Thanks to inspiration from @bmann and a few others, I took advantage of a Black Friday Amazon sale to pick up an air frier. Currently 15 mins into a whole chicken attempt.

Meanwhile @exolabs has been out for 117 days with 0 secs of downtime. How is that possible? The AI runs on your own hardware. Make sure you own your AI. AI in the cloud is not aligned with you; it's aligned with the company that owns it.

chatgpt went down for 30 mins today :( we are much, much better at reliability than we used to be, but clearly more work in front of us. (it is now the 8th biggest website in the world according to similarweb--we have had a lot of work to do these past two years!)

I spent the last 48 hours looking at the #WordPress update APIs. It's pretty staggering the amount of data that is being passed around. I tried to summarize it in this post. As far as I'm aware this isn't really documented anywhere, nor is it opt-in. duanestorey.com/posts/down-t…

Just tried the new Ultra Wide Apple Vision deal and it’s really, really surprisingly good. Where you look is quite sharp, it’s very useable. Travel with this plus a macbook air M3 is an incredibly portable studio.

AI will indeed spell the end of all human outbound sales jobs. NOT because AI "replaces" them, but instead because AI so poisons the well and no one responds to anything anymore.

if Mark Overmars never created gamemaker - i wouldn’t be a software engineer. i was 9 years old - my older brother has a friend over and they’re messing around with it trying to make a fighting game where they’ve added pictures of their own faces as characters. after a day they get bored of it and delete it. my mind was blown. ‘i’ could make games. how many people got their start with scratch? flash? modding AOE, WC, SC, the source engine, minecraft, myspace pages, etc? these things act as attractors, they inspire a generation to be intrinsically motivated to learn the craft

Development charges are out of control. Build infrastructure w low cost bonds, pay them off with the increased tax revenue from higher density development. Have existing owners pay their fair share for upkeep. Don’t bleed new homes and pretend like it’s somehow free money.

Why 'single lot'? 1. you don't have to compel adjacent owners to sell by offering much higher land prices vs what you might pay for a single lot 2. existing owners can develop with existing lower land cost 3. You get a mix of building types and ages 4. Change is incremental
Happy Halloween! Here are some spooky single lot, single stair buildings. 3 to 6 storeys, 6 to 24 units. 33' and 50' lots, with (and without) on-site parking.
