Since Feb 1980, I have kept a record of almost every book I've read, with commentary & notes. Updated my database for 2025. The tally is 5970 books read since 1980, 503 read 2x, 84 read 3x, 6 read 4x, 1 read 5x. 1052 e-books borrowed from @EPLdotCA since 2011. #BookotWeek
Twelve chapters, twelve months. Re-reading this year, month by month, so as to follow the rhythm of the year itself. Provides different insights. A #slowreading project that I am greatly enjoying. #BookotWeek @ClerkofOxford
Just finished reading this fascinating book, "Winters in the World" by Eleanor Parker (@ClerkofOxford). I really enjoyed this - especially the section on Rogationtide and the connection to the "beating of the bounds", an event I have heard about in family lore. #BookotWeek
Reading chapter 10 this am about Scyld Scefing. By coincidence, I was reading “The Lost Road” (Tolkien) last night - he repurposes that story into the legend of King Sheave. Interesting timing and entanglement! #BookotWeek

Feeling very intrepid! Just back from @FreewillPlayers performance of #Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” in Hawrelak Park #yeg. Intense rain, wind, cold & muddy trails. Got soaked on the way there. But an enjoyable performance & a fun afternoon. 🎭

Some people fear it. Others embrace it. But in the end, all of us must eventually face it. This winter, join us in considering one of life’s biggest questions: What happens after we die?
Death: Life’s Greatest Mystery, our newest feature exhibition opens on February 26, 2026.

Enter the mind of a curator and explore how RAM builds its collection. Learn how museums protect and preserve these histories. And, maybe, consider what stories your own objects may tell.

Cool! I was on Team Magpie for this initiative. Such a characteristic bird of #yeg. Yes, they are loud and destructive but they have such swagger.
After a 6-month campaign in which an amazing 40,829 votes were cast, we're thrilled to announce that the official winner of the Edmonton City Bird Vote is the Black-billed Magpie!

This is fantastic! The glass case allows a view of the case beyond, with specimens displayed. He captures the reflection of the flamingo mount on the far side of the glass case and a partial reflection of the ibis mount. There's a lot to disentangle here! @EastLndonGroup
Good morning, Stuart @gardnerstuart39 & how true, thank you. One of the Group members, Archibald Hattemore was fascinated by painting glass & reflections: here's his painting of "The Dead Flamingo (Interior, Bethnal Green Museum)" from 1928 from the Astley Cheetham Art Gallery
This was an absolutely amazing performance! An emotional journey through the music. The audience was silent and rapt. In awe of such artistry and musicianship by @HewittJSB. Truly, a memorable concert @winspearcentre
So excited!! I have a ticket to hear the incomparable @HewittJSB play #Bach's #GoldbergVariations at the @winspearcentre in #yeg on Monday. I am SO looking forward to this concert! Plus, going to my first concert in person since #March2020.
According to Google scholar, my publications now have just over 2000 citations. Good to know that my work is useful to other scientists!
It's amazing how much joy watching a jackrabbit in the garden can bring. 🐇
Hunkering down is what we've been doing in #yeg #Canada for the last two weeks with record low temps. Jackrabbit (a winter white-furred hare) in our yard has been hunkering down under a rowan tree, curled up just like the hare depicted in this wonderful painting. @B_Strawbridge

Wow! This looks like an amazing shop to visit! A place to find that pencil in a specific shade that you need for an in-progress project. So much more user-friendly than selling in sets, when you only need one shade. I feel I could browse here for hours! ✏️
