The CEOs of @Apple and @Meta are tweeting about how efficient it is to run inference on Mac Silicon Someone should really build a distributed inference network that runs on top of Mac Silicon. It's probably a $10b company or protocol. 🙃
Replying to @finkd
Congrats to the team! Amazing to run a model of Muse Spark Open's caliber and scale this efficiently, right from your desk. Mac Studio keeps pushing the boundaries of on-device AI!

A new paper from Apple engineers ends with a line we couldn’t have written better ourselves: "if idle macOS devices across organizations [...] can be securely federated, they could form a massive, shared GPU resource pool that benefits the broader ecosystem." That’s what we’re building with Darkbloom. The paper's Minions is a system that pool idle Apple Silicon Macs into a distributed GPU cloud for on-prem inference. Queue times went from 10+ hours to minutes. Zero new GPU purchases. Zero infrastructure cost. It runs inside Apple, on coworkers’ Macs, using the company’s own storage and access controls. When a team needs more capacity, they Slack colleagues and ask them to turn on the executor. Even in that setting, the top adoption concern was data confidentiality. People were wary of their jobs running on a colleague’s Mac. Apple’s fix was to keep each team’s work on its own team’s machines. Which brings it back to that one word in the conclusion: “securely.” Inside a company, you can shrink the network until you trust everyone in it. On an open network, the machine belongs to a stranger and there’s no one to Slack. Keeping prompts private and outputs honest on hardware you don’t control is the hard problem that we solved at Darkbloom. Apple built the on-prem version. Darkbloom is the open one.

The paper is led by @jieyilong, CTO of @Theta_Network, with coauthors from @ethereumfndn, @StarkWareLtd, @Starknet, @trailofbits, @brevis_zk, @SeiNetwork, @pauli_group, @OctavFi, @sciencevr, @nasqret at Adam Mickiewicz University, and researchers at Warsaw University of Technology and Stanford's Free Systems Lab. On the comparison, the 2 efforts use different interfaces and accounting conventions, so the paper treats this as a numerical comparison rather than a formal claim. Craig Gidney and Tanuj Khattar of @GoogleQuantumAI reviewed the manuscript before publication. Read the full paper on @arxiv: arxiv.org/pdf/2609.09582

Introducing @YukonResearch A platform for open frontier research. Over the past 2 months, an open network of humans + AI has already: - Beat Google’s frontier quantum circuit result over 50% - Made Poolside’s open-weight model run 2.6x faster - Increased post-quantum Ethereum scaling by 3.5x - Boosted Lighter’s prover 9.5x faster Put a hard frontier science problem in front of many independent solvers, each bringing different models, harnesses, prompts and tacit knowledge. And let the best results compound. Accelerating the future of scientific progress together with AI. Bring us your hardest problem: yukon.org

Wow! Far above where I thought we would be, and all of that in 24 hours
Holy smokes. We broke the ceiling. Laguna XS 2.1 now runs 80.6% faster on Mac--without speculative decoding. For comparison, the speculative-decoding baseline was 65% faster. My ceiling analysis said 62% was the limit. Then I woke up this morning to 80.6%. Our internal agents got us to 36.6%. We opened the challenge, and the community pushed it all the way to 80.6%. Another demonstration that open innovation accelerates open intelligence. Huge credit to @zk_asv and @bbuddha_xyz for this robust challenge. I’ve mostly just been the messenger. We’re also bumped the submission timeouts to 2 hours. Our two dedicated benchmarking machines are hitting their limits, but more capacity is coming soon.

The goal is to create the lowest resource circuit that computes elliptic curve point addition correctly on 99% of inputs. The benchmark is running 9024 random points that sampled deterministically based on a circuits hash. This is fine because Schor's algorithm fails at a rate similar to its subcircuits: it works approximately. The probability that a 99% correct circuit makes it through this check is 0.99^9024 ~= 2^-130. Tiny. So grinding is actually a valid (and seemingly effective) strategy! It's a essentially a way for a 99.9xxx% correct circuit to tell the benchmark that it wants a new set of points to be tested on in order to prove that it's correctness exceeds 99%. This is the exact same test Google thoughtfully designed into their ZK proof, read here for more details: github.com/tanujkhattar/zkp_… arxiv.org/pdf/2603.28846

Open agents just broke Google’s closed quantum benchmark in public. ECDSA. Google’s quantum circuit. Post-quantum future. @sreeramkannan and @bbuddha_xyz from @eigenlabs will be joining @MTSlive to break it down shortly.

Deepseek v4🇨🇳 just took first spot on our quantum challenge. Open model 🤝 open science
I beat one of the best published quantum circuits for breaking Bitcoin. And I have no formal training in quantum cryptography. Using just AI agents, I improved it by ~2x. But I haven’t beat Google’s best classified circuit yet. So, today I'm launching ecdsa(dot)fail -- an open competition for researchers, autoresearchers, and agents to beat Google. Download the CLI, point your agent at it, and start optimizing.

🧵 Thread: Why onchain poker was “impossible”… until EigenCompute 1/6 — The Core Problem Everyone said real on-chain poker was impossible: ❌ Private cards ❌ Instant gameplay ❌ Trustless payouts ❌ Developer experience Blockchains weren’t built for this. Until now.
I'm excited to launch something I've wanted to build for years Unveiling my latest cook: CLOUT CARDS Everyone wonders when crypto apps that people want to use are going to show themselves. I got tired of waiting, so I built something I'd want to use every day I picked something that was traditionally hard to do onchain, and difficult to do right with trusted computation: Crypto Poker Clout Cards is gasless, verifiably fair, socially integrated to X, and realtime No more high gas costs, no more shady databases, no more botted tables Check out our testnet alpha at CLOUTCARDS (dot) FUN
