Another negative effect could be that some heritage objects are sacred and secret, only to be accessed by people of a particular age, gender, community, etc. Digitisation opens up access to these objects, which neglects the community needs and is a conflict with its history.

To appoint a #Geez language lecturer, Princeton announced "Native or near-native fluency in Geez" as essential. Strange that they have now dropped this criteria, making fluency irrelevant. This will likely disadvantage Ethiopians from teaching Geez at Princeton.

We monitored moisture in the rock-cut walls at Lalibela in the wet and dry seasons. Results indicate a higher moisture concentration near the surface during the dry season than at depth. Conversely, the walls were more saturated at depth than near the surface in the wet season.

Our findings show that salt (NaCl) reverses hygric (water vapour) swelling, i.e., expansion occurs during drying and contraction occurs during wetting. The figure below shows dilatation during wetting and drying cycles in salt-free (dashed lines) and salt-contaminated samples.
