The kid on the left should have kept it all to maximise her self-interest,
& the kid on the right should have been inspired by inequality to aspire higher or be resigned to acceptance, not given a handout. Why do kids keep on failing this economics test? xitter.cf/schuld_eth/status/1808…
All 10 of #Canada's provinces have now committed to ending their immigration detention deals with #CBSA, a major victory for refugee rights. It's time @JustinTrudeau takes meaningful steps to end immigration detention across the country. #WelcomeToCanada hrw.org/welcometocanada

Coke & Pepsi profit from sugar in western India where "young girls are pushed into illegal child marriages so they can work alongside their husbands cutting & gathering sugar cane." Many are pushed to have needless hysterectomies to "keep them working."

STUDY: Cars are rewiring our brains to ignore all the bad stuff about driving. “A new study reveals how unconscious bias leads us to neglect negative externalities of driving. You may call it ‘car brain,’ but this research team calls it motonormativity.” theverge.com/2023/1/31/23579…

Gannett did not remove this strip in particular. It had already removed Doonesbury from the list of comic strips available to newspapers in the chain. cbr.com/doonesbury-com…

How do “tragic accidents” happen? By consistently choosing cars over people.
These aren’t accidents.
They’re the inevitable results of our choices.
Part of @tomflood1’s campaign to use car company marketing techniques against them.
People over cars.

On a work trip to Copenhagen I saw more people using mobility aids in four days than I’ve seen the US in decades because it was possible for someone to safely navigate the city *without* a car. Automobile dependence is an economic and physical prison.

Tonight we used carshare to make our bi or tri-annual trip to IKEA in the burbs. Convenient carshare is an underestimated element of building a multi-modal place with not only low car use, but low car ownership (and thus less need to build parking).
Build a carshare strategy.
In Vancouver, each #carshare shared vehicle replaces up to 20 personally owned vehicles, with their associated space, costs and carbon footprint for parking. Carshare is a key ally of walking, biking & public transit, & is critical to move from low car use to low car ownership.
