Never had one of these in my youth, but I set one up at the @R_I_C_M Learning Lab recently (with a Spectre GCR too), and it's an absolutely amazing machine. I had access to a friend's Mega ST but the Mega STE really ups the game.
Atari computer that I used the most! Atari Mega STE - beautiful machine!

This free game lets you slowly upgrade a scruffy tinkering garage into a professional maker lab. If you’ve played Overcooked, you know the shape of it. Except instead of a kitchen, you’re running a makerspace. raspberrypi.com/news/from-ga…

FLOPPSY Is Back on the Menu 💾 We had a cool floppy reader/emulator project underway. Then we moved, dealt with a tariff mess, and created a new, very cute human. A modest scheduling interruption. Now we’re back with a nice, hopefully final revision. FLOPPSY is designed to connect to or emulate Shugart PC, Mac, and Apple Disk ][ floppy drives. Yes, we have an Apple index sensor input. We know what you were about to ask. We added a 2.8" color touchscreen and a USB host connector for some Very Interesting Capabilities. We also whipped up top and bottom plates, and the whole thing is 3.5" floppy-sized. Small enough to look familiar. Considerably more complicated inside. 🔧 Read. Capture. Emulate. There’s plenty of magnetic history worth keeping, and we’re getting back to the hardware that can help. FLOPPSY is up next ... and so is the next chapter of AdaBox. We’ll be announcing Club AdaBox later this week. 👀

I’m watching the Ralph Bakshi Lord of the Rings cartoon with my kids. Hadn’t since I was 8 or 9. I can’t stop thinking about how seeing it on opening night in 1978 as a teenage stoner would have been one of the all-time peak experiences produced by Western Civilization.

The SidecarTridge Multi-device is now officially Powered by Raspberry Pi. Which means a board whose entire purpose is to serve 40 year old computers that most people assume are dead has passed review and sits in the same catalogue as proper industrial products. Thanks @Raspberry_Pi for letting me into such a select club. I promise to behave. And thanks to the Atari community for dragging this thing into corners of the spec nobody sane would visit. raspberrypi.com/for-industry…

In this tutorial, we’ll hook up a potentiometer to an MCP3008 to control the brightness of an LED by turning the knob. We’ll then add a second potentiometer and create an internet radio, using the two potentiometers to switch the station and adjust the volume. This tutorial features in Raspberry Pi Press’ book, Simple electronics with GPIO Zero, which has been updated for the latest Raspberry Pi devices. 👉 raspberrypi.com/news/build-a…

Starting today at 00:00, all shipments to the European Union are cancelled, with the only exceptions being Germany and Spain. This is because of the PPWR, the new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation. I thought this would never actually happen, because it goes against all logic, but the greed of the member states won in the end. To understand in depth what has happened and why, read the full story on the blog: sidecartridge.com/blog/2026/…

The Raspberry Pi community has been squeezing our hardware into Altoids tins since the beginning times (still not sure why), and the cyberdeck renaissance continues apace, so this Maker Monday, we thought we’d share a project by Excercising Ingenuity which marries the two. raspberrypi.com/news/curious…
