I don't get why everyone thinks self custody is hard. Just write down 12 words, that's it.

Writing down words is easy. Now comes the can of worms: How did you generate these words? Are you certain of the seed's entropy? When you want to spend your coins, you must type your seed into a live computer. How secure it is? 90% people can't handle these threats.

All established large wallets have sufficient entropy and are safe to enter your seedphrase. II think 90% do just fine. It's way less complicated then everyone makes it.

Self-custody is far more important than business competition 🙌 Well done, @Trezor ! This is great to see !
🔥 NEW: Trezor rejects calls to capitalize on Ledger’s security incident, saying “we are on the same side” and user security comes first.

I am supprised anyone is supprised by this response. This should be default behaviour in the crypto space. Unite instead of all the hostile division.

Until now, your crypto has been more secure in your bitrequest app then some hardware wallets. No firmware supply chain attacks, good entropy, self custrody, open source and decentralisation might be all there is you need. bitrequest.github.io

Getting of the gold standard and kicking the can down the road by printing money got us in quite a mess, to say the least.

If your intention is to HODL it's easier and safer to just write down 12 words instead of using a hardware device. Use a wallet that has good entropy to generate your seedphrase, like bitrequest.

My spy-implanted ledger came from Malaysia, and had flawless shrink wrap. Even opening it, at first you don't see the implant which is cleverly hidden where the screen's padding is supposed to be. Follow Ledger's guidance to check yours: support.ledger.com/article/4…

It passes the check. Only way to detect the implant is to open your Ledger. More details: support.ledger.com/article/4…
