The path forward is a re-mint. It is the only viable way to bring the project back.
We hold no illusions. This is crypto — whatever we deploy next, someone will attempt to attack it. We will treat that as a certainty, not a risk. Our task is to reduce the features that expose unnecessary attack surface, while preserving what makes BitmapPunks what it is. To lose that identity would be a defeat of its own.
Finding the right balance will take time, and we will not rush it. For now, no action is required from you. We will share more once we have reached a level of certainty we can stand behind.
In the meantime, enjoy the rest of crypto.

Over the last two weeks, we have re-assessed the full state of the deployed contract. It is now confirmed that the main accounting model was damaged in the attack and cannot be repaired. The only way to restore correct ownership is to re-deploy the main contract.
We remain cautious on the security side. BitmapPunks has one of the most complex designs in the NFT space, and it is uncertain whether a simple fix would avoid introducing new vulnerabilities. With that in mind, we are evaluating two new paths forward.
The first is to deploy a pure ERC-721 contract and re-mint with only the images baked on-chain. The trade-off is that BitmapPunks would permanently lose part of its identity, relying heavily on traditional marketplaces, and the project would only make sense on EVM chains with marketplace support.
The second is to airdrop as a pure ERC-20 token, fully decoupling the art from the token. Effectively, the new token would become more of a meme coin representing the project's culture.
In parallel, we have spoken with several entities interested in taking over and running the token and community side of the project. If we find a team that genuinely shares our vision for BitmapPunks, we will hand over our source code and everything we have built, so they can carry the torch and continue the journey from here.
Regardless of how the token side is resolved, we will continue to build on this project. It remains the largest PFP collection in history, and its glory will not be undone by a single attack. In the age of AI, we are all in the process of redefining ourselves — and now a new chapter is unfolding.
While the token side remains pending, we will remove certain functions from our websites and Telegram channels. Our focus will shift to spreading BitmapPunks as a pure pixel art PFP project across the internet, and we will release more tools to help builders easily access the project's content.
Last but not least, we see many NFTs still being purchased every day on our native marketplace. We're grateful for your love of the art, but we must emphasize one important point that we have already discussed with the CTO candidates: if we ever conduct an airdrop or gated re-mint, ownership will be based on the snapshot taken before the attack. This means any purchases made after the hack will not be counted.
Thank you for your continued attention. We will share more details as they become available.

One thing that has always amazed me is how much talent BitmapPunks managed to gather. Despite its small market cap, it drew the attention of so many skilled cyber nomads.
I remember how low our expectations were at launch. Our best estimate was that it would take two weeks to fully mint. Instead, the TGE completed in under 14 hours.
When we dug into it, we found that many were minted by bots. Bots in a mint were nothing new in crypto, but what surprised me was how fast they were built. And it didn't stop there. Soon after the native market launched, someone deployed rare-NFT sniping bots so fast they could snipe the rare ones in the very same block they became available. People were putting MEV-level skill to work here for just a few bucks.
On one hand, I felt proud and honored that this project attracted some of the most talented geeks in the space. On the other, I always carried this quiet worry that no mistake we made would ever escape their eyes.
This week, that nightmare came true. What cripples me isn't the financial loss — it's the loss of faith to build something new for this space. I've always had ideas I wanted to bring to life, and so far I've realized maybe 5% of them. Now I have to force myself to stop. Given the pace of AI progress, everything we build suddenly feels so fragile. We're going to pause here until we have a plan we're truly confident can survive.
Looking back, I feel grateful that one of the best decisions I made was turning down various collabs that could have driven short-term hype. Otherwise, the damage today would have hurt far more people.
I know many of my close friends bought heavily from the secondary market. I'm sorry this project didn't reward you financially. And to the many of you still using your BitmapPunks as your PFP across your profiles — I want to express my deepest appreciation. It means more than you know.
Many have suggested an airdrop based on a snapshot taken before the hack. Technically, this is possible. But no one can guarantee that a new contract would be perfect and unhackable. As much as we emotionally want to do it — to shake off this feeling of defeat — we won't rush into it.
Right now, the team's focus is working with security teams to track down the attackers. If we manage to recover any funds, or if the hacker is willing to negotiate, every recovered dollar will go toward giving BitmapPunks the best possible chance to get back on its feet.
Fingers crossed, and back to work.
Gamification brings hype. But hype always fades, that's just how it works. We don't regret the unboxing and the fun mechanics we built. They were part of the journey. Our long-term vision, though, is a return to immutability, the heart of true collectability.
Some of you found the GitHub repo.
Even fewer found the NPM package — the one that lets any site or AI agent pull the entire BitmapPunks PFP collection.
The signal is quiet on purpose. "Few" is the feature.
And it keeps growing — steadily.
18 months. We built. We shipped. We grew the team, then made it lean. The tech worked. The attention came. The volume followed.
Hype fades fast — sometimes before it even lands.
Bear market's here. Good. We're builders.
Now the real question: what do we build?
A few team members have departed to pursue new paths.
Rather than simply hiring replacements and restoring the old routine, BitmapPunks is entering a transition unlike anything we've attempted before — we're exploring the possibility of running this project with AI. This is new territory for all of us.
Will you stay and see what's possible, or step away before the story unfolds?
A truly great game rewards players with the intrinsic satisfaction of conquering challenges. The thrill of victory should be its own reward. Yet competitive events deserve their trophies - champions should have something to show for their mastery.
Once we've perfected the gameplay, we'll introduce a point system. Period winners will earn points redeemable for exclusive victory memorabilia. Get ready and aim for the top!
BitmapCrush V2 public test round 1 has concluded.
Round 2 launches today with key improvements:
We've introduced time limits for each level. The game is designed as a quick, casual experience - think of it as a snack rather than a full meal. These time caps ensure gameplay remains intense but light, preventing lengthy grinding sessions.
We've added a much-requested pause feature - stop the countdown and freeze the board until you're ready to jump back into action.
Plus, we've rebalanced several item effects to spice things up. Jump in and discover what's changed!
We are about to launch an updated version of BitmapCrush.
The current leaderboard will be reset around 15th Jan 2026, 4 AM UTC.
We will screenshot the top 10 players of this test round and post them here.
Happy to see people not just playing the new game but diving deep into its mechanics. Your feedback is exactly what we hoped for during this beta phase. Our goal is to create an experience that's both engaging and enjoyable, without unnecessary stress. Finding that sweet spot between challenge and fun takes careful tuning - and we're getting closer with your help.
As previously mentioned, all scores during this public testing will be reset. However, we'll immortalize these beta achievements with a screenshot on our official socials before the reset. Consider it a small tribute to our early testers.
Updates incoming soon!
BitmapPunks turns 1 year old in a few hours. One year ago, we made history by breaking Ethereum, pushing gas prices to nearly 30 gwei during our launch. The following months saw us pioneer groundbreaking features - native marketplace, seeding, unboxing, and more.
6 months ago, we made the bold move to BSC. It wasn't an easy decision, but our innovative hybrid bridge implementation proved flawless. We landed on BSC just as $BNB reached its historic milestone, breaking the 4-digit USD mark for the first time.
Throughout this journey, our community has evolved. Some joined us, others moved on. People came for different reasons: our technological innovation, artistic vision, and determination to reshape the space. Yet we acknowledge our challenges with product-market fit. In a crypto landscape where metas shift instantly, we've stayed true to our core identity rather than chasing trends.
We remain committed to our vision: building an elegant on-chain PFP collection. While we may not be your most profitable investment, we're the builders who stay when others leave, the innovators who create when others copy, and the dreamers who persist when others quit.
Happy New Year, fellow pioneers. Let's build something timeless.
Happy New Year's Eve! 🎊
We've got a special gift - the new game is here!
Quick note: This is a beta version while we fine-tune the final balancing. All records will reset before the official launch, but don't let that stop you from diving in and having fun!

This is the final post.
A few months ago, we launched a simple game - think Candy Crush with BitmapPunks elements. Our expectations were modest; we thought people would play a few rounds and move on.
The response surprised us. Despite its simplicity, we maintained 3-digit engagement, with people regularly returning to kill time. While it wasn't designed for profit, seeing our community enjoy it was deeply rewarding.
So we decided to level up. In less than 24 hours, you'll experience a new version of BitmapCrush with 10x more content. Consider it our thank you gift to everyone who's stayed with us through this journey. Get ready to crush!
Oops. Didn't get your Christmas gift yesterday?
Don't worry. We have some presents for you very soon.
