Hey, World! π
I have some good news, and some bad news...
The good news is that my collection of avatars and pets are now available for purchase! π₯³ (see below)
It turns out that there were no issues with the sprites themselves, but one of my browser extensions was interfering with bitmap.game (not sure which, but it was likely an ad/popup blocker, or VPN).
The bad news is that I am currently having some money issues (that I can't go into detail about), and as a result I am going to have to leave this space, and I'm not sure if/when I will be returning. π’
Thank you all for being involved in this journey. β€οΈ I am happy to be able to go out knowing that my last few contributions are for the good of the community - the open source mapping library, and now some avatars/pets to remember me by.
Any purchases of my avatar/pets will not be directly funding the development of bitmap, but they will help me get out of a tough situation, and you'll be the proud owner of a little slice of history.
Now onto the sprites...
The prices reflect the supply, resolution, and historical value of the spites (except for the first one which I accidentally did not change the default price on, so it's a bargain π).
All of the sprites are fully animated, including idle animations.
The first 4 sprites (2 avatars, 2 pets) were hand crafted by me, and there is enough supply so that whichever of my avatars you purchase, everyone will have the opportunity to own both pets that go with them (if you're fast).

@blockamoto you may want to have a look into this.

bitmap.land uses the official bitmap indexer built by @trac_btc , so that should be your source of truth. Not sure why Magic Eden would say otherwise. I imagine there's an issue with what they think are the rules for bitmap ownership.

Thank you. π Will give em a go.
Anybody know who/how best to contact someone from bitmap.game?
Having some unexpected issues with my avatars. πͺ
Just rolled out an update to bitmap.land that re-implements the maps using our open source library: npmjs.com/package/@blockamotβ¦
This has some great visual and performance improvements, and reduced the code required for the map to less than half the previous size, even though a couple of features/fixes have been added.
Some highlights of v2.2.0-beta include:
- Crisper maps on high DPI/retina displays
- Faster rendering
- Improved mouse/touch interactions
- Display start/end of epochs on all views
- Open block details on search/page load
You can checkout the full changelog at: bitmap.land/changelog
Got big news for you all! π₯³
Today we have released a ReactJS library for drawing The Bitmap - open source and free for everyone. It's so fresh we haven't actually finished switching over to using it on bitmap.land yet (work in progress).
We chose to use React because it is performant, allows componentizing your code, and should be familiar to a lot of people.
It's written in TypeScript for those of you that like your type safety, but can still be used in JavaScript projects, and ships with both CommonJS and ESM versions.
The library comes with a set of components, hooks, and other utilities that may be useful. Unlike similar libraries we also allow you to extend the drawing functionality, so the possibilities are limitless - see "Custom Components/Renderers" in the docs.
You can install this right now from NPM: npmjs.com/package/@blockamotβ¦
Check out the source code on GitHub: github.com/blockamotolabs/reβ¦
In the examples directory you'll find some of the techniques that are used on bitmap.land and will help you build a crisp and performant map: github.com/blockamotolabs/reβ¦
You can also view a live version of these examples here: blockamotolabs.github.io/reaβ¦
As far as I know something quite like this hasn't been done before. The closest thing would likely be github.com/pmndrs/react-threβ¦, which you should checkout if you're a React developer that wants to draw some 3D stuff.
For those of you that were interested in getting your hands on a Bitmap Dev avatar/pet for bitmap.game...
Just thought I'd let you know that I do have a selection of avatars and pets ready to go. π₯³ I'm just waiting for the fees to drop a bit - been crazy high recently.
I'm a little jelous of @blockamoto's bitmap.rcsv.io avatar and pet, so...
...I'm going to be creating a few of my own. π₯³
Anyone interested in a Bitmap Dev avatar/pet? π
GM, and Happy New Year!
Been out with the flu for a while, but now back to cooking up some surprises. π
Hopefully some stuff that suits my fellow developers' taste.
What's your favorite kind of sauce?
I've been awfully busy with "infrastructure" recently, but as a little surprise we've rolled out a small update to bitmap.land π₯³
- The map now has a "Flat" view (2016 across to align with difficulty adjustments)
- We've swapped out the Theory page for "Bitbook" which contains the theory, whitepaper, rulesets, and more
- Added a changelog that is available by clicking the version number at the top right of the map (or go to bitmap.land/changelog) so you can see all historical changes
- And some other small typos and stuff have been fixed

If you're stalking about the status code, I'm not so sure. π Maybe 402 or 418. π
They will definitely be in dev related numbers though. π
Replying to @A2E_A2E @blockamoto
Thanks for the input. π
I will likely supply somewhere around those numbers - some may have lower supply and greater price.
Will have to wait and see how they turn out before I make any solid decisions. βΊοΈ
Replying to @A2E_A2E @blockamoto
Haven't really thought about supply/price yet. π€
What do you think would be reasonable?

Also, it's not often I get to do graphics outside of writing code, so this should be fun. π
