Tired of this excuse. First of all, social security is not something you “pay into.” If it were, you wouldn’t need younger people to “pay into it” in order to get your check. But you do. Because this is a Ponzi scheme, not a retirement account. What you really mean to say is that your money was stolen from you — which it was — and now you want to steal from younger people to get restitution. That’s the actual case you’re making and it’s exactly as morally deranged as it sounds.
Second, your generation continually for decades voted for politicians who would keep the scheme going. You might not have invented social security, but you damn sure made certain it kept going. Why should younger people have to pay the price for the shitty policies you supported?
Third, you “paid into” social security in a different time. The country is now bankrupted and 40 trillion dollars in debt, and basic things like housing are prohibitively expensive. It wasn’t like that when you were young, because your generation of leadership created this problem.
So the theme here is that there are a bunch of problems you guys either created or contributed to. You can choose to pay the price for that now, or force your grandchildren to pay the price so you can live comfortably until you die and leave them holding the bag. You’ve chosen the latter, and I think that’s wrong. Simple as that.

Matt, the older people expecting Social Security have PAID INTO IT their entire lives.
Young people are just doing the exact same thing we did.
They're not getting some special punishment to subsidize older people.
And older people have a higher net worth BECAUSE THEY'VE WORKED!

The Heritage American debate isn’t just about severing your connection to the American past.
The more sinister idea is that what you do today carries no inheritance forward.
Serve your country. Build something. Sacrifice. Endure. Die for it.
Then be told your descendants have no special claim to your story, no right to take pride in your sacrifice, no deeper connection because of what you gave.
Once you convince a people that inheritance, lineage, and posterity mean nothing, you’ve weakened one of the oldest reasons men sacrifice for a future they’ll never live to see.
That is fertile ground for any system that wants loyalty transferred from family and inheritance to the state.

At times, the joy that life attacks me with is unbearable and leads to gasping hysterical laughter. I find myself completely out of control and wonder how could life could surprise me again and again and again, so completely. How could a man be a cynic? It is a sin.

If I try to replace all my American engineers with foreign engineers who scored a few points better, I should be stopped by the law or worse.

This is a human story.
It’s not lost on me that the guy’s (us) who went around screaming “don’t trust verify” ended up trusting too much and verifying too little.
Very ironic. Very human.
It’s time to get down off our high horse for a little while.
And get back to basics.

Yesterday you revealed that not only are we not doing mass deportations, but we naturalized more people then we’ve deported
Biden let in at least 20 million and you haven’t even removed 10% of those people, forget the 30+ million who were already here
If this were 4 months into the administration that might be understandable, but we are now staring down midterms that will likely be lost because we’re fighting another foreign war and the likelihood of deportations ramping up if Dems win the House is approaching zero
Yes the Trump admin is better on immigration than the Dems, yes it’s even better than any GOP admin we likely would have gotten under any other candidate, but this is still a total disaster

When BIP110 fails don’t forget to keep receipts on all the people who decided to trash their reputation for an obviously bad idea from snake oil salesmen, as they get swept into the dustbin of history along with the big blockers
Launching Consensus.health website!
It's an aggregator of Twitter(X) sentiment in regards to the debates of the day. For now the big debate is bip110.
I had created a crawler that scanned 20k bitcoiners and tried to see who had an opinion about this topic and categorize them between Approval, Neutral and Against.
Also anyone can log in with his twitter account and choose a position. Of course the sentiment expressed here is only from the people that chose to participate and is not indicative of complete community consensus.
The size of the avatars is proportional to the number of followers of the said account.
Hope you enjoy it.

To the Americans:
I've travelled all over the world. I've familiarized myself with many places, and met many people. And I'm a Canadian, although I’m privileged to reside once again in the States.
And here's something I've noticed, and it’s a key element of America's continuing greatness:
You bloody Americans value success, and you believe in its existence.
This is something that doesn't really happen anywhere else in the world. Even in other free democracies—the United Kingdom; Finland, Sweden, and Norway; Australia, New Zealand and Canada; Germany, France, and the Netherlands (great countries all)—a counterproductive cynicism too often reigns.
Success is equated with exploitation.
Ambition is looked upon with contempt.
This happens sometimes in the United States too—particularly among the miserable progressives, who confuse their resentment, ingratitude and unearned skepticism with wisdom.
But in your great country, by and large, striving is admired and success celebrated.
This means that more people strive and succeed in the US than anywhere else. And it's increasingly obvious. You remain stunningly more innovative and productive than any people anywhere else on the planet.
And so I say, as all should who are fortunate enough to live in the western world, let alone America:
Thank God for the United States.
Thank God for the wisdom of its founders.
Thank God for its faith in the free market and in the natural rights of man.
Happy birthday, you damn Yankees and Southerners.
Long may your admirable country dominate the world.
Long may your freedom and hope provide an example to those suffering everywhere at the hands of their malevolent states.
May your two and a half centuries of unparallelled success be just the beginning.
Your country is the light of the world, and the city on the hill.
Thank God for the USA.
Happy 250th.
