Deutsche Telekom are now default blocking email from ALL non-allowlisted IPs at the IP level. Which means that @BitFolk's mail server for the main domain, our mailing lists and our support system can't communicate with anyone a t-online address (amongst others).

New Session Traversal Utilities for NAT (STUN) scan on port 3478/udp, reveals around 101k IPv4 and 2.9K IPv6 accessible services daily. These can be abused for reflection/amplification DDoS attacks (IPv4 amp factor around 4, IPv6 amp factor around 6). Most in US and Germany.

OK, LugRadio fans: since @DaveEwart found the LRL2009 banner, I'd like to know who everyone is on it. I've made a start at naming everyone but I need help! Go to lugradio.org/lrlbanner/ and then reply to this with all the names I'm missing (and the little number for each)!

Today, at 15:35, we made our final /22 IPv4 allocation from the last remaining addresses in our available pool. We have now run out of IPv4 addresses. Read our full announcement here: ripe.net/publications/news/a… In the picture, the Registration Services team at the RIPE NCC

Upgraded a VM last night (unwittingly, in the middle of a DDoS) from Stretch to Buster - its fifth (!) in place upgrade. The VM has been in constant service for the past ten and a half years, starting life as Debian Lenny. Thanks #debian and #bitfolk!

Thanks to @bitfolk for saving my arse yet again with their proactive approach to online security. If you're looking for an excellent hosting company with reasonable prices and the personal touch, definitely check them out. #Eximsucks

Thanks to Andy at @bitfolk for his CVE-2019-10149 reminder - already fixed in 4.89-2+deb9u4 & I was automatically updated, but good to check up on active exploits!

Great thread about 32-bit computing. My @bitfolk VPS is 32-bit and dates back to 2007, and has been upgraded all the way until I had to nuke it recently for reasons.
The first VMs at @bitfolk had just 120MiB of memory and back then (~2006) it felt right to recommend 32-bit due to lower memory use. Fast forward to 2019 and now the most common config is 2G yet we still have customers from 10+ years back who've never reinstalled, only upgraded.

Like I said, we do this for fun, it's not a job. So bear that in mind. Massive thanks to @bitfolk who have sponsored the show since the beginning, without asking much in return. Thanks also to @jupitersignal for providing @JoeRessington to edit and master our nonsense. ♥️
