When governments shut down your communications or a platform debanks you, what’s your backup plan?
Listening to activists at the @OsloFF describing surveillance, censorship and financial exclusion, one thing stood out. For nearly every problem they raised, builders were already working on solutions.
It became the opening to my talk at @BTCPrague. In this clip, I explain why CBDCs may not arrive in the form people expect and why stablecoins can carry many of the same risks.
Full video, article and practical tools linked below.
Freedom depends on having money that no government, bank or platform can switch off.
Bitcoin gives us that option.

The UK will be in excellent company if this happens (credit to @keirwrong for image) :
2025/6 currently 2x
Where will it to end up?
Replying to @similar_set
Top to subsequent bottom ratio:
2011 16x
2013/5 8x
2017/8 6x
2021/2 4x
So Bitcoin has become less and less volatile since inception.
Almost a year on, and the UK looks even more anachronistic and naive.
Why the UK's financial asset posture is anachronistic and naive.

Last day of this tremendous event today. If you’re there, why not join the clockchain?
Going to @bit_fest_UK #Nostrshire?
Why not join the Bitcoin clockchain? Just ask me (the guy with the camera).
Public Bitcoiners, anons and nyms - all are welcome.

Per the @FT:
Rather than itself or the government, the @bankofengland blames climate and cows for food inflation.
Unsurprisingly, the @ECIU_UK, a climate activist organisation, agrees.

The most interesting thing about the @FT‘s leading ‘news’ story is that there isn’t really any news in it.
Tether has long held gold, and already holds gold stocks.
So you have to ask: why are they running this so prominently?
Reminder: the misleading reporting of inflation in the media continues.
1. Ignores the (higher) lead measure, and reports a (lower) secondary measure
2. Blames luxuries (air travel), ignoring necessities (food inflation is much higher than headline inflation)
