ALT a screenshot from Sexed Up that reads: Bisexuals, on the other hand, are not seen as lacking desires but rather as having an overabundance of them. Because bisexuals do not limit our dating pool to a single sex/gender, we tend to be viewed as impulsive and indiscriminate in our partner choices— hence the hypersexualized stereotypes of us being attracted to “anything that moves” and unable to commit to other people.19 As we saw in the disparity between lesbian and gay stereotypes, there are notable gender differences in how bisexual women and men are viewed. While bisexual men are largely invisible and even presumed by some to not exist, bisexual women are often publicly sexualized and portrayed as “easy” or “asking for” sexual attention; the latter presumptions likely contribute to the fact that bisexual women experience rape at levels roughly three times higher than either our lesbian or heterosexual counterparts.

ALT Image description: A graphic with pink purple and blue gradient with pink neon lettering saying, "#BiPride22 All About You" with finger guns pointing at the phrase, "All About You." The prompt for people to respond to reads: “Share your hopes for the bi+ community in the future...” Followed by the Still Bisexual logo, centered on the bottom of the graphic, which features the letters STILL over the bi pride flag colors.
