Nationwide, this election was mostly about the economy.
But the shifts due to immigration in Texas have the most potential to impact American politics.
We've seen shifts in the Hispanic vote in the range of 40-70 points in certain counties. This might be historically unprecedented.
If Hispanics remain like this, Republicans are finished in Texas. And if Republicans are finished in Texas, Republicans aren't winning any presidential election.
This is in many ways a return to pre-Trump voting norms, but Texas whites are now more educated and liberal. So Republicans can't afford to have Hispanics voting like they did in the Obama era. This is doom for the Texas GOP.
A lot of Hispanics voted for Trump because they thought it would be a normal presidency. Many locals in areas like the Rio Grande Valley thought that he would only go after criminal aliens and recent arrivals. Instead, the administration has been doing blanket raids at construction sites and taking as punitive an approach as possible to everyone who is undocumented, no matter how law-abiding or how long they have been in the country.
The Hispanic men who voted Trump have probably endured a lot of teasing from their wives and daughters who always said that they were joining hands with racists who hate them.
The leftists in Hispanic families turned out to be correct. I think Hispanic men will be embarrassed to ever vote Republican again. They got played, their communities were devastated, and their businesses destroyed. This is not something you forget easily.
In 2024, there was hope of a stable multiracial coalition against the left after Trump did unexpectedly well with minorities. But that wasn't Stephen Miller's vision. His America didn't include a lot of people who voted for Trump.
In Texas, they got the message. Stephen Miller may go down as the gravedigger of the Republican Party. richardhanania.com/p/texas-i…

Trump should forever be known as the Republican President that turned Texas blue. What a complete failure.

Joe Rogan: “It was the Iran decision that fucked everything. Even the ICE stuff, most people in this country don’t like the idea of a militarized police force with no identification just pulling people over. It opens up a world of problems. It sets terrible precedents. This is what people that are pro-ICE don’t seem to understand, they could use that in another way. Now we’ve set a precedent, you’re allowed to have a militarized police force with masks on and they don’t have any identification and they’re snatching up people and some of them happen to be American citizens”

This is why modern parenting is like prison. This mindset just straight up didn’t exist 30 years ago.
My parents left the COUNTRY for multiple weeks and left me and my brother with my grandma and we did not die or even care lmaoo

This is such a disingenuous take. Bernie loves pandering to zombies with zero critical thinking skills.
That $400k sticker is negotiated down by insurers and PBMs. Out of pocket pay is capped, especially if patient is Medicare Part D they'd only be paying a few thousand dollars a year.
Do you really think the folks at $RVMD just stumbled across this drug playing golf one day and then decided to profiteer off of it?
The amount of money sunk by this company alone, not to mention all the other biotechs in oncology to get us to a doubling of patient years in PDAC is literally the GDP of a country like Suriname.
Zoom out and there were 5 different drugs that failed Ph3 in the last 7 years in PDAC and that was at least $30B sunk.
For the over four decades that KRAS was written off as "undruggable" , industry wide oncology R&D is in the TRILLIONS.
You voted for the Inflation Reduction Act in 2022. That bill put oral small molecules under medicare price setting at year nine while giving injectable biologics 13.
So you vote for the pill to be worth four years less than infusion and then complain about the price?
Stop being a luddite for once and celebrate the progress being made.

A boy on his bike near Kramatorsk was just murdered by a russian drone. They posted this video of their crime. This is evidence this war has nothing to do with territory. It’s an attempt to wipe out an entire civilian population of an innocent county while the world watches.

not a mystery, house prices are up 40% because we increased the money supply by 40% to save boomer 401ks during covid. we sacrificed the young on the altar of the old.
Original Article: Daraxonrasib or Chemotherapy in Previously Treated Metastatic Pancreatic Cancer (phase 3 RASolute 302 trial) nej.md/4nWaxvM

ALT A two-panel line graph shows overall survival in two populations, comparing darovasertib (blue line) and chemotherapy (gray line) treatments. Panel A depicts the RAS G12 population, while Panel B shows the overall population. Hazard ratios and confidence intervals are detailed in each panel.

ALT This image shows two line graphs titled "Progression-free Survival in the RAS G12 Population" and "Progression-free Survival in the Overall Population." Both graphs compare survival rates over 13 months between two groups: one receiving darovasertib and the other receiving chemotherapy. Accompanying the graphs are tables detailing the number of events and patients at risk for each treatment group.

Cheers, chills, and a standing ovation when RASolute 302 showed unprecedented survival on daraxonrasib for patients with progressive pancreatic cancer
Seldom do you sense you’re witnessing a historic moment in cancer care but this feels like ras targeting has arrived

I have kids ranging from toddlers to teenagers and I still think the newborn phase (especially for a first time parent) is the hardest by far. I remember being a younger parent and hearing older parents constantly whine about how much harder it gets. Turns out they were exaggerating for attention and pity. Parenting gets A LOT easier over time. Your kids get more mature and so do you. That’s how it should work if you’re doing it right anyway.

My least favorite response to people not able to afford a home in their region is,
“Just move somewhere cheaper”
Many people cannot easily move:
• Their job isn’t remote
• They’re divorced and share custody of young kids
• They care for an elderly parent nearby
Also, it is an individual solution to a collective problem. It doesn’t solve the problem for the collective, only for you
And when many individuals do it at scale, it creates a new collective affordability problem for locals in the formerly inexpensive region

The housing market sucks even for people who aren’t struggling.
You can’t move, you can’t make lifestyle upgrades even when you’ve earned them because it’s financially stupid to leave a low interest rate.
If you do go to upgrade you’re paying double what you should be for the quality of the house and it will still likely be dated and require more money for renovations.
I’m so sick of morons claiming we have enough housing. No we don’t. If we had a wider variety of houses, coupled with newer builds free of needless regulatory building costs everything would be getting better.
In places like Michigan they’re trying to pass laws that would allow that but too few people are bullying those getting in the way because they are too uneducated to even know who the true bad guys are here.

Every time these conversations start we go in circles, but two things can be true:
1) It is harder financially to get ahead than it was for previous generations
2) Many young people have insane issues with overconsumption and it's become so normalized they don't even realize
