Feels good to finally get a new post on to our education blog after some time to move to a new website. Great work by our registrar Nick Erskine. Stay tuned for more and let us know what you think!
After a hiatus our education blog is back with our latest post by ED Registrar, Nick Erskine. Snakebite in the ED - not just great exam-fodder, but a common presentation to Australian emergency departments. wix.to/sfgsEVW #FOAMed #Toxinology #MedEd

Morning handover in #ED. Day team - it is beyond important to be positive, especially after the night team have had a busy, difficult shift. Think before you question - you weren’t there at 4am. Focus on the 99 positives, not the 1 negative. Smile, take over, say goodnight.

I was asked to talk at #coda22 about 'Medical Ethics & Time' which is difficult to do without mentioning 'trying to do as much good for as many people as possible' - utilitarianism. You can't do this without mentioning Jeremy Bentham, which I did along with irrelevant anecdotes

A very practical and insightful approach to skill acquisition 🙌🏽
I’ve had a recent run of some pretty hectic clinical situations requiring life-saving interventions and I’ve been reflecting on how we learn and continue to improve. Here’s a 🧵 on skill acquisition: 1/
A 30yo bricklayer had fallen 3m off scaffolding and is unable to mobilise. His BP is 80/40 and HR 47. Check out this week's Fast Friday Post for a rapid review of spinal injury with @eanna_mac emergencyeducation.org.au/fa… #FOAMed

An excellent few days at #coda22, learning from some incredibly inspirational speakers. So grateful to the @codachange team in getting the #netzero conference together.

7/ Some of the system constraints we all work in are so embedded into our culture that we have resigned ourselves to be a part of it. Question these continuously, work to change them - @purdy_eve
