Dr Who 🎓
So @worcester_uni surprised me & I’m now Dr of Letters, my contribution to Indian history. A big thank you to all at the university, Lisa, Diane & Prof Webb. I came to learn about my own history & being recognised like this was something I never dreamt of.

that’s my dad at the beginning. he and so many more taxi drivers have a story to tell about 9/11. they saved lives and feared racist attacks along the way. what a shame to have grown up in a racist world with them. but what an honor to be raised by them.
Today, we honor the TLC drivers and staff who took part in Operation Free Transportation–a program connecting over 1,000 taxi drivers with families and emergency workers to give thousands of free rides in the weeks after 9/11. youtu.be/7Umr23fff7Q?si=i275…

After 9/11, Sesame Street aired four episodes to help children (and grown-ups) process fear and grief.
In this episode, which aired in 2002, Elmo learns to face his fear with help from the FDNY firefighters — a reminder that even when we're scared, someone is there to keep us safe. #NeverForget
A wonderful weekend accompanying @BritishArmy @CWGC @PoppyLegion commemorating those that gave their lives. Men and women across the Empire gave their lives to a global battle & sharing how India contributed. A weekend of unity and reflection 🙏

Lady in Red is from the album Into the Light (1986). Chris de Burgh wrote the lyrics inspired by his wife, Diane, after seeing her wearing a red dress at a party.
Released as a single in 1986, it was a huge worldwide hit: #1 in the UK for three weeks, #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and top 10 in dozens of countries.

Our deputy-director @Singhtwo2 on the killing of Henry Nowak
‘Most Sikhs I’ve spoken to in recent days unequivocally condemn Digwa and his family. They are all expressing solidarity with the Nowak family.’

An interesting article adding additional context to the Sikh kirpan debate from my friend Jagbir Jhutti-Johal
The murder of Henry Nowak has triggered calls to ban the Sikh kirpan.
But what actually happened? Was a religious exemption really exploited?
I spoke to Jagbir Jhutti-Johal about the case and why many Sikhs feel their religious freedom is now on trial.

18 yrs ago, I was violently assaulted & raped while walking alone. Every year on the anniversary of that day, I go on a solo hike to remind myself that there is still beauty in this world & I can enjoy it. This yr, I pushed myself & did a few days of the Southwest Coast Path…
Community organisations have no chance of surviving because of the government. Tried to file confirmation statement @CompaniesHouse & now told I need to use an account approved by the government. Honestly if this is a set up then tell me what is?

On Thursday I was on @bbcquestiontime speaking about the work I do in #Handsworth There are so many people who make Handsworth a community. With funding being cut our organisation can only support so many. Spoke to @lisanandy about crating change in the heritage sector
