Ex-Carlsbad High sharpshooter & current New Mexico star Jake Hall continues to drill shots at an elite level. In the Lobos’ 92-64 exhibition win over visiting Washington State on Sunday, “Bull’s Eye Jake” scored 22 points, hitting 8 of 10 field goals, 4 of 6 3’s & 2 of 3 on FTs.

The 6-foot-11 big man out of Southeastern Prep (FL) ultimately chose San Diego State over Washington and UCF amongst others.

Totally agree with @jonschaeffer that a lot of the national media covering college hoops “slept on the Aztecs” because they only know they had several transfers & DIDN’T KNOW the talent Coach Dutcher brought in & the work they’ve put in to develop a rising squad. Fun times ahead.
All-American candidate Mo Krivas scored 17 points to lead five players into double figures to lead highly regarded Arizona to a 82-67 win over San Diego State on Friday night in Tucson, Ariz.
But both Harrington & Davis are returning from injuries plus highly regarded transfer Luka Skoric sat out Friday vs. Arizona with a groin injury. All three of those guys will be important players this year for the Aztecs, who should get better throughout the season.
Aztec coach Brian Dutcher played 10 guys & saw some highlights vs. a quality foe. The Aztecs battled the physical hosts through 40 minutes & had 4 guys in double figures — led by the hot-shooting Sy. And key returners Elzie Harrington & Latrell Davis only combined for 4 points.
The Wildcats are projected to be a Top 5 or 6 team in the country this year & played 4 exhibitions before Friday night vs. SDSU. They appeared more relaxed & confident. It was the Aztecs’ first exhibition this year — & it was a promising effort. They just need game experience.
Oregon State transfer Isaiah Sy led the Aztecs with 17 points, hitting 7 of 11 field goals & 3 of 5 3’s. A more confident Tae Simmons & sophomore transfer Chance Gladden each had 15 points & Bear Cherry added 12. Bear also sumo wrestled the 7-2 Krivas in the paint all game.
Actually, six Wildcats scored in double digits. Krivas led with 17 & dominated the paint. Caleb Holt added 15, Ivan Kharchenkov 13, Derek Dixon & JJ Mandaquit 13 apiece & Maksim Brnovic 10. The Wildcats led 42-30 at the intermission.
San Diego State goes on an 8-0 run to slice Arizona’s lead to 70-59 with 5:56 left in the exhibition game in Tucson. Sy leads the Aztecs with 17 points. Tae Simmons & Chance Gladden each has 11 vs. a very strong Wildcats’ squad.
Arizona leads visiting San Diego State 70-51 with 7:42 remaining in the second half. Mo Krivas leads four Wildcat double-figure scorers with 15 points.
