Two review tasks and a letter of nomination for an award on my to do list today. (checking April off the list!) ...a reminder: I seek out at least one award nomination per month (sometimes more!), a practice of gratitude that takes a small bit of my time. Give it a try!

Teaching grad research methods course next year for the first time in a while. My overarching premise is: "how to make a reasonable case for your procedural and conceptual choices as a researcher." I think this is the real standard in academic communities... 1/2

How does peer responding help the *responders*? Thank you, @insidehighered for publishing my piece, “An Unsung Benefit to Peer Feedback”: insidehighered.com/opinion/c… @ncte_elate @ncte_cel @ncte #4c24

Peer feedback of student writing benefits giver and receiver (opinion)

When students respond to each other’s writing, it’s often more helpful to the responders than the receivers, writes Patricia A. Dunn.

The NSF Grad Research Fellowship funds at least 2,500 STEM *grad students* at approx $159k (to be used over 3 years). The NEH Fellowships for *faculty* funds an avg of 71 awards up to $60k for one year. There is 0 funding available for hum grad students. The imbalance is insane.

We got a behind the scenes look at a “Coffee with the Profs” filming! Betsy Sneller @betsysneller, MSU Assistant Professor of Linguistics, talked about the Michigan accent and @mi_diaries research project. Host Russ White @RussGRNnWhite also asked live questions from alumni. 💚
Two people sit in chairs on a stage. In front of them is a wooden packing crate that acts as a coffee table. The packing crate says: “To: Michigan State College, East Lansing, Michigan.” Behind the two people is a Michigan State University banner with the Spartan helmet logo. Another screen shows a campus photo of trees with the point of a building tower poking through and the text: “Coffee with the Profs.”
