The incredible Fingal's Cave on the Isle of Staffa. It was a privilege to visit and explore the island on such a calm day. Wonderfully atmospheric.

Switching iPhones have become a major hassle. So many credentials and configurations and shit to setup after changing. To the point where I’m hesitant to pass on better iPhones to family members because of the trouble. This should be better.

If I’m the owner of the @Nationals, which means I’m worth 5.2 Billion Dollars, I’d be embarrassed if one of my employees had to start a GoFundMe page to battle expenses due to leukemia.

There's something distinctly off-putting about who gets the label "creatives". That it's somehow restricted to design or music or copywriting or whataever. Have you even seen a masterful service person talk an irate customer off the edge? Lots of creativity required there!

TIL about redundant place names like Bredon Hill (“hill hill hill”): Bre = hill in Celtic As Celtic died, "Bre" became just a word, & ppl began to call it “Bre Don” (Don = hill in Old English) As Old English died, “Bredon” became just a word, & ppl began to call it “Bredon Hill”

I always chuckle when UX designers talk about "journeys." People are paying their phone bill, not trying to get to fucking Mordor. Take it down a notch.

Pair programming is a beautiful practice, and I respect those who can do it day-in, day-out. But I would not want to be a programmer if I had to do it all the time. I need not merely long stretches of uninterrupted time, but outright solitude to flourish.

BREAKING: In a huge victory, the European Parliament has voted 318-278 against #Article13 and #Article11—the disastrous #CensorshipMachine and #LinkTax copyright proposals. That means we’re close to stopping these terrible proposals—and we’re gaining momentum.

Isn’t this the purpose of politics? Persuading others of a better way forward? I get the glee, but maybe open arms would set a better example: You can change your mind and we will welcome you in. xitter.cf/davidsirota/status/101…

This is fuckin nuts. The US wants to examine re-examine “bad naturalization cases” to find U.S. citizens they say “should not have been naturalized, to revoke their citizenship, and then eventually deport them.” wnycstudios.org/story/uscis-…

A major point of my campaign: in the safest blue seats in America, we should have leaders swinging for the most ambitious ideas possible for working-class Americans. You’re largely not going to get gutsy risk-taking from swing-district seats. So it’s not luck. It’s mindfulness. xitter.cf/mollyjongfast/status/1…

Quitting a job that's fundamentally incompatible with your principles or religious beliefs is admirable. Refusing to do your job for people who don't share your beliefs is indefensible. The Bible isn't a ninja smoke bomb that lets people escape the consequences of their choices.

Thank you @POTUS for taking critical action ending family separation at our border. Congress must now act + find a lasting solution that is consistent with our shared values;the same values that so many come here seeking as they endeavor to create a better life for their families

Discussed DRY with a work colleague today and I finally found the words I wanted to say: it's fine to consider removing duplication once it exists, but preventing it from occurring altogether often needlessly complicates. There's great info to be gleaned from similar code.

Everything this president and his administration have done was easily foreseeable two years ago. He showed who he was on a daily basis. If you voted for him, voted third party, or didn't vote, you own this. All of it.
