J.R. Smith says he went straight from the club to the Knicks’ gym and slept in front of his locker, but when a coach warned him he couldn’t keep it up, he went on to win Sixth Man of the Year “When I was playing with the Knicks, I was insane. I would go out all night until 4:00am or 5:00am, be at the gym straight from the club, go to the sauna, steam, whatever then sleep in front of my locker, wake up at 7 in the morning and go work out. It was just like my routine.” “One time Herb [Williams] sees me in the locker room sleeping… I wake up and he’s like, ‘Man, young fella, you can’t burn the candle both ends.’” “I was just sitting there like, ‘Sh*t, watch me.’ And that’s the year I won Sixth Man of the Year. He’s like, ‘Hey young fella, you burnt the f*ck out that candle.’”
