I know lots of people start businesses and organisations all the time…. But I honestly cannot believe that I have one.
Here it is, on a massive roller banner for tomorrows Pop-Up event at @shopthecentre 🥹
It’s mine. I did it 🥹 #changeyourmindset #changeyourlife

The period from prenatal to three is the most critical window in all of human development: a time during which infants and toddlers lovingly apprentice alongside their parents (and other loved ones) as they learn what it means to be human.
This video is a beautiful illustration of the awesome responsibility we take on as parents.
You can’t miss the little tool belt. Or the hammering. But what I want you to notice here is neither. It’s this little one’s eyes.
Apart from a quick glance to observe dad’s actions, our hero’s eyes never leave his father’s face. Even when he himself begins to hammer.
The message being conveyed isn’t so much, “I can hammer too,” as much as it is, “Look, Dad, I’m just like you.”
Simply beautiful.
Thanks to hanny_masters for sharing this identical pair on IG.

I am autistic.
I was just shouted at by a staff member in London Victoria to "stop swaying".
Autistic people do this to self-regulate, especially during moments of anxiety like their train being cancelled (mine was).
Rail staff need Autism Awareness & Acceptance Training.
🧠 HEALTH WEEK 🧠
Some #westlothian schools have been in touch for #healthweek.
This is on a first come, first served basis. As are our afterschool clubs.

Here's one easy hack which could improve teenage mental health.
Stop telling teenagers that their GCSEs are the most important thing they'll ever do and that if they don't do well, their future life will be blighted.
People say this to motivate teenagers but for many it has the opposite effect. One third of teenagers are not going to do well in their GCSEs no matter how hard they work. This is how the system is designed. It's not one in which everyone can succeed.
Those teenagers believe you, but many of them also know that they are not going to do well. They think, not only is my life miserable now, it's going to be like this forever. They sink into despair. They lose motivation, they become stressed and anxious - because what is the point?
What can we tell them instead?
That there will be second chances. That not everyone passes exams. That we will help them find their way to a rewarding future, no matter what happens in their exams. That their worth as a person is not contained in their exam results.
Essentially, that there is hope for their future, no matter what.
Come on @will_l_a and @HannahB4LiviMP 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 #bereavementsupport
After meeting with the prime minister @RishiSunak earlier, I am delighted that he has committed to a further meeting with @MelJStride at the @DWPgovuk to discuss the issue of the bereavement support payments for widowed parents. Thank you to @HannahB4LiviMP for facilitating.
Another after school session with @southdaleps .
We are learning how our brain processes emotions & impacts behaviour; fight, flight, freeze.
We worked on communication and active listening 🧠👂🗣️ through fun challenges 👌🏻

I’ve done a post on my other socials about this.
I’m disgusted. Come and spend a week with families and learn about SEND before commenting on it.
Yesterday was my 1st time at @southdaleps - it didn’t disappoint 🤩

We need to keep telling this story:
“My 18-year-old daughter was at Starbucks, alone, the other night.
A man came up to her and started talking to her.
A barista handed her “an extra hot chocolate someone forgot to pick up.”
How grateful I am for people who look out for other people!
Side note: She felt safe and did not remove the lid, but let them know.
She said the whole team was watching over her the rest of the time she was there.💚
Thank you to Starbucks for having a great team.”

Young person in care from 11 years old. Placement to Placement, foster carers back and forth. At 18, it's the last hurdle, and she's placed in a run-down block of flats, and independent life as an adult begins. She's on UC and looking for a job. She tries to study in-between applying for work, no electricity. She has no family and a small friendship group. She's left to survive on her own with little but no support. "Define care she says." There is no girl's night out, no new clothes from Zara to make her feel good. It's all or nothing. Abandonment. That's what we call the care cliff. You can start to understand how all the negatives can easily creep into your life. #changeiscoming
Careers Fair at @ViewforthHS yesterday 🫶🏻 i was there to remind YP of my talk from last year AND that there’s #nowrongpath. Self esteem and mindset is the route of it all; be kind to yourself, look after yourself and go for it.

A lot in the media today on "Knife crime" and the push to ban specific weapons. There does need to be restrictions put on these “Zombie knives” however isolating knife crime from the larger issue of violence is counterproductive. The primary focus should be on prevention.

The campaign to make care experience a protected characteristic is personal. I left care at 16, and I know first-hand how difficult life was (still is) for young people leaving the system. I came back into the system to help other young people like me. 2024, this is a bedroom for a young care leaver. Yes, it has a bed and a carpet. But that's it. It lacks any life. It's one room in a bedsit. There's a shared toilet and kitchen for 6 others. This is their reality. #changeiscoming.Children in care are still children.

The substantive parts come into force 6 months from today (unless @scotgov commences early)
