I gotta admit today has been a shocking day online for me with regard to Canadian football. I’ve had my gripes about some of the gimmicks that occur in the league (operations cap, fg posts, etc) but never once have I said/claimed it’s a talent issue. Earlier CFL apologist Michael Ball tried to tell me that the Missouri Valley football conference is better competition than CanWest ball. -> I went to the Regina Rams spring camp and that offensive line could compete at almost any BCS school. Perhaps he is right maybe every other team sucks. Now this? Last years MOP is claiming that a top NCAA college team could beat a CFL team, if playing by American rules? Prior to watching this I would have assumed a mid CFL team beats a top NCAA team by 30+ regardless of which rule set they are playing. Talent alone I would have assumed CFL teams have way more depth…plus experience, and also “grown man strength”. I mean college kids could be 19/20 years old! It’s tough to argue against Nathan though, he would know much better than me as he has played in the CFL and I have not (although I buzz a lot of film!). Sounds like he is worried CFL players are too undersized to compete against the best NCAA players (in the American rules). Eye opening day, I would have never thought it would even be close, figured CFL would smash them. I think I need to recalibrate my opinion on Canadian Football.
