It’s hard to see anything else happening but coding interviews going away. This won’t mean that technical ability won’t be interviewed: but it interviews will be less predictable, more subjective and harder to prep for than the near-universally-disliked DSA interviews.
The coding interview is dead, at least for my team at Anthropic. I've seen enough to know that it no longer provides signal. I removed it from loops this month. I have a spicy, optimistic take - I think there's an opportunity for junior engineers: felixrieseberg.com/hunger-be…

Amazon's leadership is very good at writing, but you still need to read between the lines. What I read between these lines: Engineers who are not "product engineers" (aka eng + PM interest) and don't like to be customer-facing will not have a future inside of Amazon Full: aboutamazon.com/news/company…

Since this got fixed, it’s pretty clear that the exciting answer (they’re state level actors) gives way in favor of the boring dumb answer (they’re incompetent clowns).
emudhra is actively blocking certain versions of curl from fetching their certificate revocation lists. this is with the usual combination of incompetence (only blocking specific curl versions) and malice (deliberately disrupting global security response) bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bu…

We're about to enter a period where not reading or writing becomes as ubiquitous as smoking once was. We can hope people will eventually realize this is bad for them, as they did with smoking. But this is far from certain; the cost may not be as obvious.

“I have been too busy shitposting on Twitter to do my job” is one of the most relatable things eMudhra has said. Same. I mean, you shouldn’t trust me with CA responsibilities either, but same.

Brutal truth from @Lethain “If you're in [middle] management (…) you sort of have to decide, am I retiring now or am I re-skilling?” He did just this: step down from leading a large team (250 ppl) to be hands-on with a small team (25 ppl), ship code & re-learn the new “rules”
Why a 3x CTO went back to a 25-person team. From Will Larson @lethain, Imprint CTO and 4x book author. "It's a hard time in middle management, right? There's a lot more competition for these roles. What I found personally very rewarding is getting back into the details of writing software. When I left Carta, my team was around 250. When I joined Imprint, the team I was leading was 25. This a unique moment to actually re-skill. If you're in management, I think right now either you have to get back into the details, or the world is changing so radically that the profession you know will not be valued in three years. You sort of have to decide, am I retiring now or am I re-skilling? I think there has to be some openness to taking a backward step or a lateral step. What I knew I wanted was getting back into the details and relearning how to do software in the current age. That's what I believe is going to be the unlock to the longevity of my career."

The international community is slowly learning what a “LaLa company” is
Calling it now: Chrome and Mozilla will remove eMudhra as a G1 root, nulling them as a CA. On 20 Oct, eMudhra had 24 hours to give an explanation of what exactly happened with the mis-signed certificate. They did not; asked for more time; and now blame “investors/customers” 🤡

This is what Crome saying “this is your last opportunity to fix the mess you’ve created, else you’re out.” Pretty clear they will be out. We’re talking about an eng team unable or unwilling to run a RCA and publish it, when everyone assumed they could bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bu…

The problem isn’t that AI is intelligent. It isn’t. The problem is that too many adults (but not all) are at once mechanistic, imitative, unimaginative, stupid, formulaic, influenceable, & gullible, arrogant beyond their skill set, & too expensive to maintain.

Whatever Gartner says related to AI or any modern technology, the opposite is true Remember this is the company that listed IBM and AWS as the top coding harnesses a few months ago: above Cursor, Anthropic and never mentioned OpenAI lol I am surprised anyone pays for Gartner
“At the moment, we have more compute capacity than we have demand [...]” Ok @Gartner_inc, this is nonsense. We are *massively* compute constrained. Our portfolio companies are struggling to find capacity. Full article here: cnbc.com/2026/10/19/gartner-…

You have to walk before you can run. Yes this tweet is about running. Lots of people hate the fact that when they want to start running they do in fact have to walk a lot first. Your zone 2 is probably at a pace that requires some walking when you begin. ITS OK!!!
